23.01.2022 Full Arch Friday - - - - - - - - - - - - FULL DIGITAL WORKFLOW for the conversion and upgrade of a 20 year old All on 4 prosthesis. Over the years there has been some great improvements and advancements in both the digital and manufacturing space of dentistry. The original prosthesis was direct to fixture, had a cobalt chrome substructure and wrapped in acrylic. ... At this point in time our patient wanted us to address the following concerns: Prosthesis repairs was now occurring more often. The implants that were placed 20 years ago had become obselete, and it was becoming more difficult and almost impossible to source the correct screws at the time of replacement. The aesthetics of the prosthesis had become quiet worn and lacked lusture. Our approach over 3 appointments: Custom made multi-units were placed on the implants Scan bodies were placed on the multiunits and a digital impression was taken to capture the implant positions, angulation and the landscape of the tissue. The second visit involved a 3D printed try in and when the milled titanium bar was inserted to check seating, bite, phonetics and aesthetics. The final visit we insert a complete milled prosthesis with a cementable titanium bar direct to the multiunits. BENEFITS OF DIGTIAL - IF A REPAIR IS REQUIRED WE CAN SIMPLY MILL A NEW SET OF TEETH, REMOVE THE TITANIUM BAR FROM YOUR OLD TEETH AND CEMENT THE BAR ONTO THE NEW TEETH, THE SAME DAY. SAME PROCESS APPLIES IF YOU DECIDE AT ANY TIME TO UPGRADE FROM MILLED ACRYLIC TO CERAMIC. MILLED ACRYLIC VS WRAPPING ACRYLIC IS FAR SUPERIOR IN TERMS OF STRENGTH, AESTHETICS, AND RESISTANCE TO WEAR AND TEAR. Given the age of our dentist and the risks it will impose on his wife (that is immunocompromised) we do not have a dentist working from now. We do however have a hygienist but her scope of practice is restricted.
