25.01.2022 Beaufort market you have done it again!! Sour dough, local authors, fudge (it got eaten before the pic), capers literally from up the road and a book that I have been searching for, for almost 15 years!! We laughed and chatted and thoroughly enjoyed our day! @beauforttownmarket #sourdough #cookerytheaustralianway #Lament #gavarniecapers #friends #laughter

23.01.2022 I love school holidays!! It means I get to spend some time with our kids!! And while most kids are looking for a beach holiday or a zoo trip, ours are working. Archer spent 2 full days vaccinating and drenching (hoisted up on a chair so he could reach) and Ed, well she did Ed things, like catch and cuddle lambs, get knocked over, cry, get up, get angry, calm down and then try again. (She reminds me of someone ) The Merinos are done The Kids were awesome And our ...ewes did extremely well. 95% across the flock. No ewe losses and over half the flock are maidens. Super impressed girls!! Not bad for a couple of little Aussie battlers! Now to get sorted and start pruning!! I wonder if Arch is big enough for that? @bush_kids @theweeklytimes @farmweekly @farmhervic @merinoandcoaus @qualitywool #farmkids #thebestlife #roomtomove #Ilovesheep #merinos #kids #schoolholidays See more

16.01.2022 Kids and I went for a walk up to our little Bush Reserve this afternoon. On the way home the kids started picking up rubbish. It seems that next time we go for a walk we need to take a rubbish bag with us!! Some ppl are just plain old pigs! Kids were chuffed with themselves that they were doing their bit for the environment. They have now set a goal to do both sides of the road up to the reserve. ... #everyoneneedstodotheirbit #onlyoneearth #letscleanitup #proudmum #awareness #knowledgeispower #teachthemsotheyunderstand #environment #rubbishremoval #putitinabin See more

14.01.2022 My photogenic children minus Arch. Loving Wednesday’s! Home and spending some time with my littlest. Next year is school Not looking forward to it tbh But it’s all part of life! Edwina is only just learning to write her name. Archer could write his whole name at her age. Starting to realise it’s a combination of parenting and differences in children. So today we spent an hour this morning writing, reading and drawing. She is such a clever possum when she applies herself, but happiest when playing with her barbies I know she will learn in her own time, but still makes me a little nervous!#mumneedstodomore #teaching #tryingmybest #allonecando #bushkids #farming #farmkids #australiancattledogs #acdofinstagram #peg #shesapoodle

08.01.2022 There is a bit of a story behind this old dog. And I wanted to share it with you all. Valooka Walter - (Blackdog Tune x Choc) Wally came into this world via C section, as his fat headed brother who sadly passed was stuck in the birth canal. When we originally joined Tim (Tune) to Choc. Luke requested a bitch pup that would back and bark and work the yards and I requested an outside paddock dog with a big cast and plenty of eye. This of course was all a load of Phooey as th...ere was not a chance that this could happen. Anyway 64 days passed and a after a tumultuous vet visit, we were presented with two straight black pups, a bitch and a dog. As they grew, the characteristics started to present and it was becoming evident that what we had ordered was in fact what we had got!!!! ( I know right!! You couldn't make this shit up!) Wal was mine and became my big casting paddock dog that I relied on for everything. Maddy was Lukes right hand girl and certainly was a handful! Wal was brilliant, I could hardly train a dog in those days and he was raw talent, with a human attached to him, thinking she knew more!! He was strong on the head, a little too sticky at times. But he was simple and easy to handle. One day we happened to meet a lovely bloke from up the road that needed a part time dog. One to gather a few hundred in every now and then and a mate to have at the backdoor and ride on the ute to town. Wal was 10 by then and getting a little long in the tooth (he had done a lot of work). I decided to let him retire to this family and live out his days chewing bones and rounding up the odd mob. So Wal settled into his new life well. He managed to survive a snake bite and a near miss with a tyre. But he was happy, healthy, warm and loved. And I knew I had done the right thing. I received a beautiful email from the couple yesterday. " It is my sad duty to inform you that on Veterinary advice Wally was put to sleep yesterday. It was a very difficult decision to have to make but in the end it was done in his best interest. Over the last few months the arthritis in his hips had become considerably worse and he reached the point where he had great difficulty in walking and even getting on and off his bed. His pain was becoming progressively worse despite all the medication he was on. We all knew his time had come. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you both for allowing Wally to be part of our life. He enriched our lives greatly and we will miss him very much. We feel personally we have just lost our best mate." I cried reading it and I cry writing this. Because for all the love I gave him. He gave it back ten fold. And he gave it back to his retirement family too. We were all blessed to have loved him. We were blessed to have bred him, work him and work alongside of him. I hope the bones are mammoth and the mobs easy gathering, till next time old boy. Take it easy. RIP Wal.

06.01.2022 2020 done and dusted What a year!! I read a beautiful piece the other day about COVID shutting the world down. But how Mother Nature seemingly took a huge life giving breath. We now have to ensure that breath continues. This year has been one for change. Change for the better........ We bought our home, Luke added another a string to his bow, farming worms and brewing microbes and I received a High Distinction for my two subjects in my Bach of Ag. Our boy turned double figures and Miss Ed grew like a poppy and can now start and ride her own motorbike! The virus has shone light on a few things - Soil is life, without healthy soils, we have no life! My family is everything, we have developed an incredible bond this past year. I am very blessed to have two remarkable children and an ever supportive husband. I can’t do everything! Something has to crack. And why half do everything!? I haven’t watched MSM since April and have found my world to be far more calmer and less anxious. (Try turning your tv off for a week, the silence is beautiful!) You cannot meet someone with an elbow bump! You truly cannot connect (well I can’t!). Eye contact and a strong grip and you have exchanged an energy that cannot be expressed through a bump. There has been many more lessons but I won’t bore you So on that note my fellow friends, supporters, family and followers, we thank you for your interaction, kindness and support. Go well into this year with an open heart, remembering we cannot control everything, but we can control our reaction to the situation. I hope your feet are sore from dancing and your head a little light and may every sunrise be as beautiful as the next! HAPPY NEW YEAR Jason Hyde #makeverymomentcount #2021 #soilhealth #regenfarming #gettingbusy #kindnessiscontagious #keepitreal #happynewyear2021

04.01.2022 There are certain dates that stick in your head. Mostly anniversaries of birth, death or marriage. And when you recall those days you can sometimes be transported back to that moment. When Dad died, when Mum had her accident, when Luke and I tied the knot, when Archer was handed to me and Eddie frowned her dear little face off. I can feel those times. And another big one was when Luke and I bought Valooka. It was a little euphoric and whilst we enjoyed a bottle of Stones arou...nd our rough enough for us campfire and chatted to Dad about our plans on our now bit of Australia, I almost had to pinch myself. We had finally achieved a goal!! A dream and another date that will now be forever etched in my head is the 24th Of July. Why? Because that’s the day we became first time homeowners!! When we walked into Neds almost 5 years ago, the place felt like home. And Luke and I both mused as we drove out the gate what a gorgeous place it would be to own one day. We moved in just after Eddie was born. And we forged a friendship with Bassy that has taken us from big highs and some very low lows. We have cried, laughed, and reminisced. Our communication and commitment between the Crouch and Hobson clan could certainly show a few husbands and wives a thing or two! We have remained steadfast and willing to move and bend with the ebbs and flows. So many people warned us, told us it wouldn’t work, told us we were crazy! (That could be true, I’ll check in with you in a year or so ) But it’s all worked out. For us and for Bass. And finally (coz I’m so long winded) Thank you Bass for being the most amazing human being. For your kindness, your empathy and your love. We miss you like crazy my friend!! Stay safe and take care!! Ps Now you all have to buy a shite load of wine, coz we need to get busy!! @nedsvineyard @bobtalks #timetogetbusy #ourhomenow #lovelove See more

02.01.2022 Vic friends.....how are you? I just wanted to reach out and check in on you all. Are you coping? Are you lonely? Sad? Overwhelmed? Or like me and just getting on with what you can? ... It’s a tough old gig this Covid crap. But it’s not all that bad. Drop me a DM if you need a chat, always willing to lend an ear or virtual shoulder Every morning I wake up and think of something I am grateful for! Most days it’s the fact I have woken up, other days it’s my doona! We are very grateful for the space that surrounds us. If you are having a crappy day, try finding something you are grateful for. We are lucky the sheep don’t care, our vines still need to be pruned and our ewes are lambing. So we are super busy. We had a FaceTime dinner party with friends on Saturday night. It was lovely to just sit, eat and chat! Even if we were 300km apart! It’s a great idea, stems the boredom, gives you something to look forward to and you can wear your ugg boots and no one will judge!! #winning Plus you could enjoy a glass of Neds at the same time!! Have you checked out our website lately? 2019 #vintage is up and ready to be purchased! Please take care peeps, let’s attempt to get this one right before the whole economy goes down that creek!
