14.01.2022 and people think we can't provide evidence to back up what we do............... https://www.facebook.com/groups/AcupunctureAroundTheWorld/permalink/10158955928698711/

04.01.2022 Lately there's been a few ads pop up in social media for 24k gold and sterling silver seed kits for home ear acupuncture, so let's just take a moment to look into actual ear acupuncture. Ear acupuncture is definitely not some new and fashionable fad and, whilst some benefit may indeed be gained by the use of use at home kits containing bright gold and silver trinkets, the ear is an incredibly well charted and exacting microsystem, a user might fluke an exact spot but just as ...easily entirely miss it resulting in little more than a natty piece of jewellery. Using the ear to treat other areas of the body has a long history, in terms of existing evidence, the Chinese medical text Yinyang Shiyi Mai Jiujing written somewhere between 771 and 220BCE discussing the links between the ear and the eyes, face, neck and upper limbs, later texts such as the Huang Di Neijing, works by Chinese Physicians Sun Simiao (Tang Period 618-907AD), Jizhou Yang (Ming Dynasty 1386-1684 AD) wrote on the uses of auricular acupuncture. Non Chinese medical discussions on using the ear as a basis for treating the body have been found in Egypt dating as far back as the Ebers papyrus scrolls (1500 BCE) even Hippocrates (460-370BCE) spoke about using the ear as a basis for treatment. In terms of modern theory and use of specific regions in the ear for treatment, the french doctor Paul Nogier is credited as establishing the first formalised and widely adopted ear chart in 1959, based on the stylised figure of an inverted foetus. Further development and refinement of Dr Nogier's map have resulted in the ear charts highlighting specific points to treat various conditions still in use by acupuncturist's today. Treatments have been developed for specific conditions, for example the NADA Protocol for smoking, even the US Military have developed a battlefield acupuncture protocol for pain control for medical personnel to apply. Modern acupuncturists are trained in the location and use of auricular points for a wide range of conditions that are applicable in genuine ear acupuncture. We can help with not only the condition itself but the majority of factors leading into it. The cost and convenience of that fashionable little set of gold or silver seeds that may or indeed may not make you feel better seems pretty poor value when measured against treatment that has demonstrated efficacy.
