25.01.2022 Complete now with five coats of protective lacquer, my Ukulele case features a painting of the reef taken from the first photo I snapped when scuba diving on Loadstone reef out from Townsville. When I first decided I was going to paint something on my ukulele case, I thought it would be some tropical flowers, maybe hibiscus and frangipani or a bird of paradise, but while contemplating the design over the prep layers of gesso, I decided flowers were too predictable. I antagonised over painting this reef scene, but am glad I challenged myself as I am really pleased that my case is not only a lot more interesting than it started out, but it also very personal and reflective for me. #neenart #musicmeetsartandocean #colouringmyworld #ukuleleart

04.01.2022 These are the paintings I entered for this years Townsville Show. I am not a fan of having all the sections themed, but challenged myself to conform. I enjoyed the challenge of getting the paintings finished in the time frame and was pleased with the results. The judge awarded first place in the International festivities section for my Oktoberfest entry.
