22.01.2022 You do you Do you crave your own company?? Miss almost 7 came home from school wanting to discuss ‘friendship troubles’ with me. I asked Mr. 11 to handle it while i watched over them and mediated when I needed to.... She said two of her best friends wouldn’t play with her over recess and she’s made them to promise her that they will include her in the games tomorrow. Mr. 11 perfectly handled the situation! He validated her feelings and told her, she needs to be where she is needed. He added that friends mutually be there for each other and it cannot be ‘one sided’ (his words now, not mine). He told her she was beautiful and kind and funny and anyone would be lucky to be her friend. With the COVID situation, though the kids are in the same school, their buildings are away from each others and he isn’t able to check in on her; this ‘breaks his heart’ he says. I was so proud of my son last night! He is not perfect in anyway but my 11 years of telling him what he deserves is still stuck in his head. Children and some adults too, need to be needed by others in order to feel good. Being alone or being by themselves often gets translated into loneliness and they feel lost and sad. It is healthy to be perfectly by yourself and enjoy your own company from time to time, or whenever need be. Like Sadguru says ‘ if you dont enjoy your company, how can anyone else?’ So my daughter has taken her journal to school to scribble things in if she has no company for recess today. DM me if you would like more information on how to handle this for yourself or your child #emotionalwellbeing #mentalhealthmatters #parentingtips #mumslife #openconversations #siblings #raisingboys #raisingdaughters #melbournemums #melbournepsychologist #covid_19

20.01.2022 Hear my dear friend @ayre80 And me discuss some of the pre teen issues including some common themes of attachment to screens, labels of ‘fragile or vulnerable’ given to children and emotional regulation. https://anchor.fm//epi/Understanding-TeensPre-Teens-em3lpp #mentalhealthmatters #selflove #selfcare #psychologist #melbourne #mumslife #investingwisely #emotionalwellbeing #controllingthecontrolables #toeachtheirown #mentalhealth #covid#melbournepsych #mindfulness #mindfulmoments #therapyeveryday #supportsystem #whateverworks #vulnerable #emotionalregulation #preteen #tween #parenting #parentingtips #podcast

11.01.2022 What makes you smile when you are outdoors? I love Birds of Paradise and I am lucky to be living in an area where these plants are so darn common! Though I have none at home (I’ll probably kill them if i did tbh), I spot a few on the road, parks and even some front yards when I am on my walks. They make my heart smile ... I think of Paradise by Coldplay almost every time I see them too.ah music!

10.01.2022 Keeping it simple.... I am not easily impressed by others in my personal life. They need to prove that they can consistently add value to my life in order to have me in theirs. With the Melbourne lockdown slowly easing, what I have missed the most had been visiting the ocean with my family. ... I visited the beach with them today and I could physically see their eyes feeding their souls. You would be amazed at how much an 11 and almost 7 year old can slow down and soak it all up! What features in this picture (and my housepant ) is all I need on most days... Children do what they see and I am glad mine take after me in this regard. How did you pause with your family today? #altonabeach #familytime #pauseandreflect #mindfulmoments #children #mumslife #parenting #beachvibes #oceanlover #coffeelover #mindfulness #beachtherapy #melbourne #psychologist #therapistsofinstagram #melbournepsychologist #emotionalwellbeing #covid_19

01.01.2022 My two great loves.... Non-human kind of course. I often find people multi-tasking or switching 16+ hours a day. It’s like they have to have so many tabs open in their mental computer. Sometimes life does require you to call up the electricity company to sort out a bill while trying to stir pasta on the stove.... But there should be moments if not longer every single where you just stop and pause! Where you take it all in, using all your senses. These are some of my favourite ways to pause regularly: - cuddles with the kids - Watching them play in the in the front yard - Watching Miss 7 eat fruits or desert - Watching Mr 11 read - People watching from my work window And yes, regardless of how much I read about it, I am the quickest at taking photos at home or while travelling in order to capture and then enjoying it at home. All the holiday photos have been extremely handy, especially this year....
