25.01.2022 Urinating in public is not OK.... Half past midnight on a Saturday morning and Manly's Corso is a busy place. In clear sight of all, including police, was a man... facing a tree - his feet apart, hands in front, liquid splashing from the bark. The 20-year old from North Curl Curl finished his night with a $500 fine for offensive behaviour. RBT... 8.30 yesterday morning, police were performing RBT duties on Collaroy's Pittwater Road. The driver they stopped was clear of alcohol but when asked for his licence produced an international version that was expired. The inevitable checks revealed the 33-year old from Dee Why was on his Ls, driving unaccompanied and not displaying the plates. 21.01.2022 The first seriously hot days of summer are on their way. For many, that means the chance to head off and enjoy our beaches, waterways and other outdoor places. ...For others, dealing with the heat and humidity will be a struggle. If you know someone like this, please keep an eye on them - make sure they're drinking enough and call for help if they need it. As always, do not leave people or pets in cars, even for a few minutes. On days like these, temps inside can hit the 50s and beyond in a very short time quickly endangering lives, particularly of the young, elderly and furry. And if you're headed to the beach or other popular place, please remember we're still living with COVID. To ensure still-necessary social distancing, everyone's being asked to spend no more than an hour or two at these places so others can have their turn, safely. Beaches will be patrolled and in some cases drones flown to keep a check on numbers - the last thing anyone wants is for areas to be closed because of overcrowding. For advice on how to 'beat the heat' follow our link: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//beat-the-heat-keep-healthy.

20.01.2022 We all know the popularity of shopping online... How easy it is to browse, select and pay for that purchase in the comfort of home... How good it is to find th...at parcel waiting just a day or so later at your front door. Trouble is, a good many of us will be out when that parcel arrives meaning it can be left, often for hours, in the open and on its own. Increasingly, crooks are prowling our streets, doing their best to get to our parcels before we do. The months leading up to Christmas are likely to see them as active in our suburbs as the delivery drivers on their runs. So, we're urging people to think of alternatives to the doorstep drop-off: - perhaps pick up your parcels from the post office... - use increasingly convenient click-and-collect facilities... - have parcels delivered to where someone is at home or waiting. It's all about thwarting the thieves and ensuring it's you and not them who gets to open and enjoy that purchase from online.

16.01.2022 NSW Health’s sewage surveillance program has detected fragments of the virus that causes COVID-19 at treatment plants and sewage networks in Burwood Beach (samp...led 21 April), Allambie Heights (sampled 22 April) and Merimbula (sampled 21 April). The Burwood Beach Sewage Treatment Plant serves about 225,000 people and takes in the Newcastle City area and the surrounding suburbs of Dudley, Charlestown, Jesmond, Lambton, New Lambton, Mayfield, Elermore Vale, Wallsend, Kotara, Garden Suburb, Adamstown Heights, Kahibah, Highfields, Merewether, Waratah West, Georgetown and Carrington. The Allambie Heights sewage network serves about 83,400 people in the Northern Head catchment, and includes the suburbs of Allambie Heights, Balgowlah, Curl Curl, North Curl Curl, North Manly, Freshwater, Collaroy, Collaroy Plateau, Narrabeen, Wheeler Heights, Oxford Falls, Dee Why, Cromer, Beacon Hill, Narraweena, Brookvale, Frenchs Forest. The Merimbula sewage treatment plant serves about 15,000 people on the South Coast. These positive sewage results may indicate the presence of people who have recently recovered from COVID-19, as they can continue to shed fragments of the virus for several weeks after recovery. However, NSW Health is concerned that they could signal undetected cases in the community, and asks people in these areas to be alert for any cold-like symptoms that could signal COVID 19, including sore throat, runny nose, cough, fever or headache. If symptoms appear, please isolate and get tested immediately, and remain isolated until a negative result is received. There are more than 300 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW.
