22.01.2022 It's easy to 'do' hospitality out of a sense of duty or to ease our conscience or even pity. Christine Pohl's reminds us that the best kind of hospitality is the one that start with a heart of love.

21.01.2022 As we end the year and enter Advent, Neighbourhood Matters is offering two resources to equip God's people for mission! 'Your Neighbourhood Matters to God' is a 6-week series to help your church or organisation love its neighbourhood. Topics covered are: looking outward; God’s Spirit is active outside the Church; living out our values in the neighbourhood; the neighbourhood as a place of hospitality and humanity; place matters to God; and transforming neighbourhoods. Cost: $8.... 'When God moved into the Neighbourhood' is a 4-part series on what Advent and Christmas mean for us as we live out our lives in our local community. Topics covered are: embodied love; cruciformity; sacred spaces; and hospitality. Follow this link for a sneak preview. Cost: $5. For both resources, each 90-minute study includes reflection, Bible study, discussion, action steps and prayer. For more info or to buy the resources, message us here or email [email protected]. 19.01.2022 NSW department of planning, Industry and Environment have put together a charter for public spaces. Check out their principles. Imagine if all planning adhered to these guidelines for public spaces. How life-giving would our parks and other public spaces be!

17.01.2022 This is a great ten minute clip on the sharing economy. Simply put this is about enabling people to exchange goods and services with each other. It's about moving away from a culture of owning to instead having access. Great strategy for cities and countries that is already occurring in places like Singapore, Barcelona, Sweden. I wonder how it would work if cities in Australia moved more towards a sharing economy.

10.01.2022 How can we reach out to those in our neighbourhood who are struggling as result of Covid and the lockdown? Armen was asked to say a few words about the impact of Covid-19 for a video series by 'Hold That Thought': "For some, in fact for many, it's not just been inconvenient - it's been a struggle, it's been devastating. ... We as a church and as society in general have a great opportunity now to find out who these people are and come alongside and support them." https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=909532216205436

09.01.2022 We’ve known about the Next Door app for a while. It’s a great way to connect locals in your neighbourhood. What other apps do you know of that are helpful? Or have you tried a Facebook group to connect people in your community? How did it go?

05.01.2022 Imagine being able to walk to your grocery store, doctor, local park and children's school! Planners have been talking about walkable cities for decades. We hope the pandemic and lockdowns will be a catalyst for this to become a reality. "A good walking city doesn’t just allow walking but incentivises it with charm and pokability. A certain picturesqueness is implied; nooks and crannies, surprise and delight, nature tangled with culture. Inner Sydney, with its alleys and undulations, is a perfect fit." https://www.smh.com.au//build-slower-cities-or-keep-career

05.01.2022 Last info session for our Hope Street Urban Internship is on at 3pm tomorrow. Hope you can join us! https://www.facebook.com/events/3360390097348014

03.01.2022 Check out Preston Pouteaux's new book! "Neighbourism does not ask you to turn to your neighbours as a source of ease. Neighbourism finds something more valuable between you and them When we choose to love our neighbours, including the oddballs, big-talkers, and whoever else makes us slightly uncomfortable, we’re setting ourselves up for a new way to live and be present in our community."

02.01.2022 Hope to see you either tonight at 7pm on zoom or tomorrow at 3pm at hope street!
