15.01.2022 Dear Robin and Jennifer, I hope you both are doing well during all of this craziness. Please accept my very tardy email to you... life got a little crazy after our wedding last August plus, I think I was in slight denial that it was all over!... I came into your boutique about this time last year, with a dress I bought online. It was far too long and basically after one quick glance from your expert eyes... it would need to be completely taken apart. Yikes. You had a few pre-EOFY sale dresses in the back and offered to show them to me. I really grappled with my dress buying journey. I'm petite so it was always a challenge to envision what the dress would look like, less 15 clips and 3 feet shorter. Also, my mom and closest friends are back in Canada. I really didn't want the emphasis of our wedding to be on a dress nor did I want to spend a fortune for something I'd wear once. Not your ideal client I'm sure! I had been shopping with family and friends during a trip back home to Canada, been to a number of showroom sales in Sydney, tried vintage/second hand and scoured online. It was all getting pretty exhausting! The second dress I tried... I loved! It needed some alterations but I couldn't believe the luck. I returned only for one fitting and that was it! High slit on point! Well, getting it home, I quickly decided it needed some extra oomph (drama not design). You very quickly crafted a dreamy overskirt. Then, that was it! Thank you so very much for your patience with me. And, for quickly advising my online purchase was not ideal haha! I absolutely LOVED the dress as if it had been crafted just for me. So comfortable, the perfect beachside chic ensemble. It was breezy, whimsical, classy, sexy. The overskirt; so fun and bouncy. It was unbuttoned for a fab reveal during our first (choreographed) dance. I've included some images that you are very welcome to use. 14.01.2022 Excerpt from Vogue Australia: When it came to Shannons wedding dress, it wasnt as easy to find her dream dress as she had initially hoped. I was so naive and thought it would be so easy to walk in and buy a dress, the bride tells Vogue. To my surprise off-the-rack dresses were too short and custom dresses couldnt be made in under three months. I was defeated. I ended up taking a picture of a dress I liked to my local seamstress, [Nelder Jones] to get it made. I wanted something summery to suit the location. I went in thinking I didnt want beads or lace and ended up choosing a fabric with crystals. We needed five fittings to make small changes to design, fit and lengthbefore I knew it I had a dress made in a few short weeks.
