20.01.2022 Nellies Cafe is one of 277 Australian cafes proudly taking part in the CafeSmart fundraiser this year, helping StreetSmart on their mission to end homelessness. Our staff will be rocking yellow all week, and we will be donating $1 from every coffee purchased on Friday. We will also have QR codes in store so that you can donate directly. All StreetSmart ask is for $5, roughly the cost of a coffee (although they won't say no to more!). The funds raised then go to the smaller, g...rassroots organizations, so that help can be provided where it is needed most. 20.01.2022 Hi guys! We thought it was time to provide a bit of an update. Nellies has rolled our existing COVID plan into the plans that are recommended by the NSW Government. This has meant a couple of minor changes to the way we have been doing things, but we are now registered as COVID Safe with the NSW Government, and get to use this cool badge!... For you guys, the biggest visible change from the last few days will be that if you are dining in, we will require you to provide some basic details for contact tracing purposes. This is as simple as name and phone number or email address. These details will be destroyed after 28 days and will only be provided to the Chief Health Officer, on request. We expect this will only be necessary if a customer or staff member tests positive. For our staff, it has meant a lot more... Most of our staff have already completed COVID-19 Infection Control Training, and we have made a bunch of changes to keep everyone as safe as possible. Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe!

19.01.2022 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT Following today’s announcement from the Federal Government regarding social distancing, Nellies has made the decision to convert to take-away only, effective immediately. Nellies will also be implementing additional contact-free controls, including sterilisation of all money and EFTPOS etc and segregation of our staff.... We take the threat of COVID-19 very seriously, and have a social responsibility to limit gatherings as much as possible. Nellies will provide some separated seating so that people can wait comfortably for their order. We also encourage you to call ahead on 6368 3262 to place an order and limit the amount of time you are in public. Please be reassured that we have a multi stage plan in place, and, as per our last post, we are committed to supporting our lovely community for as long as possible. This decision has not been made lightly, and we hope that everyone supports us and our staff, in this attempt to look after everyone’s health and safety. At this stage, we have made no changes to our opening hours. As our seating area will be effectively shut down, and people are being forced home from work, Nellies would like to offer 2 individual workstations for people to use, with access to power and wifi. 19.01.2022 Hi guys, COVID update time! We would like to thank everyone who has continued to support us and adhered to the requirements that we have in place.... As of tomorrow, we will be making some changes to the way that we collect information for contact tracing, to ensure your privacy, and cut down on double handling of information. The old pen and paper signon sheets are gone! We have transitioned to an online system that will capture the information, in line with state requirements to hold digital records. All you need is a phone or device that can read QR codes. Staff will be on hand to help out with any teething issues and to register on behalf of those that don’t have phones etc with them. As we mentioned at the time, the health and safety of our staff and community are forefront, and we will continue to make decisions based on the recommendations of experts, rather than the minimum requirements ...enforced by law. 13.01.2022 Happy New Year From the 1st of January, some of the requirements around COVID-19 management have changed. The main change for you is a new method of sign-in. Use of the Service NSW electronic sign-in system is now mandatory for some venues, including hospitality venues.... We have installed a new handwash station with a QR code to scan on entry. If you don't have a smart-phone with the Service NSW app installed, or you are having trouble with the sign-in, please chat to one of our friendly staff and they can sign you in using the Service NSW form. Please remember that check-in is a mandatory requirement from the NSW Government. Failure to check in, or provide evidence of check-in, may lead to a refusal of service.

11.01.2022 Well, Team Nellies will sleep well tonight! We were totally blown away by the huge number of orders that we got tonight... We have good news and bad news... Let’s start with the bad news and finish on a sweet note! Tonight we ran out of EVERYTHING... Chefs, bags, boxes, delivery drivers, EFTPOS machines... It was CRAZY! To give you an idea, we pumped out more food in two hours tonight than we did over our last two dine in Mexican nights combined. So the bad news is, the plans... we had to back up tomorrow night are shot... We simply could not have planned for the volume we did tonight, especially after being closed for as long as we have been. Onto the good news... Next week is on! Thursday and Friday night. This will give us some time to get to our suppliers and stock up, and iron out some bugs. To all of our customers tonight, thank you so much for being so understanding and still having a smile, even if your dinner was a little late. Hope it met your expectations. 05.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE It is with heavy hearts that we share this post. As you are aware, we have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely, and have made adjustments to our operation accordingly, each phase before the government has mandated restrictions. At the beginning of this outbreak, we told you that we would continue to support the community as long as possible. The day has come for us to close our doors for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, in the current climate,... we cannot justify our goods and services as essential, and we will not put the health and safety of our staff, their families, our customers and the wider community at risk. We want to thank our customers in this trying time, for continuing to support us. A huge shout out to our staff as well, who have adapted well to the restrictions we chose to impose, and who have been out there in public every day. We have been in contact with all of our staff to let them know about our decision. Our staff have been told that they all have a job with us when we reopen. We believe that our government, if responsible, will order similar closures in the near future. At this stage, this is not farewell! Please stay safe and maintain as much social isolation as possible so that we can all get back to our normal lives as soon as possible.

Nellies is committed to continuing to serve the local community for as long as possible, however the health and safety of our staff, our customers, and our community, must always come first. We have made the decision to cancel our upcoming taco night. We would li...ke to extend a 50% discount for our next taco night to everyone who has booked already. Nellies is implementing additional hygiene/sterilisation measures in an attempt to limit spread of the virus, including the removal of all tableware.
