24.01.2022 This letter from Penny Daven, a resident in Nelson Parade was published today in The Weekly Times. Once more, there's misleading information being shared to oppose Properties NSW's remediation plan for the promotion of Richard Quinn as an electoral candidate. What the letter implies is wrong. The proposed plan will remove most of the most dangerous waste, as per the EPA Management Order. The remainder will be encapsulated safely (it's not that unsafe at the moment!), and with a government commitment to fully remove all waste when a facility is available. It's what all the residents wanted, it's what has been proposed, it's what the plan will deliver. But I guess that doesn't help Richard Quinn's supporters...and so the misleading "spin". Shameful.

21.01.2022 Pamela Alvarez is a resident from the broader Hunters Hill/Woolwich community. As a member of NPAG, Pamela asked NPAG's leader to share an e-mail correcting some misinformation that had been shared with the NPAG community. The request was ignored. Pam has asked if the e-mail could be shared on this NPRG page. We're very pleased to oblige - all fact based opinions are respected, and unlike NPAG, we have no political agenda. Thank you Pam, great to note the broader community s...Continue reading

17.01.2022 Nelson Parade Facts - the Frankland's letter in today's The Weekly Times supporting Property NSW's plan.

15.01.2022 NELSON PARADE FACTS - THE ISSUE An extract from the Factsheet shared by NPRG What is the Nelson Parade issue?... The Radium Hill Company was formed in 1909 to mine the uranium ore deposits at Radium Hill, near Olary, South Australia, and to extract the radium from the ore. A plant was built at Woolwich, on a parcel of land comprising what is now Nos 5, 7, 9, and 11 Nelson Parade, with the reclaimed land at the base of the cliff previously occupied by an old factory. The site was contaminated as a result of the processing of uranium ore for extraction of radium by the Radium Hill Company between 1911 and 1915. Prior to the Radium Hill Company the foreshore contained a carbolic acid plant. There was also a tin smelter on what is now Kelly’s Bush Reserve. The industrial legacy of the foreshore has meant there is additional contaminated landfill used behind the sea wall on Fern Bay. This contamination remains on the Nelson Parade site.

10.01.2022 MORE SCAREMONGERING AND MISLEADING INFORMATION IN THE WEEKLY TIMES Below is an article from Philippa Clark which is very concerning for the majority of the most affected Nelson Parade residents. Within the last 7 days, Philippa has twice shared misleading information in other forums, and has apologised - without contest - for her behaviour. Yet here is another example. To be crystal clear, Property NSW is progressing a two step plan for full remediation of the site. Step 1,... remove most of the waste and put the remainder underground in a concrete box (the waste is no more dangerous than taking 3 international flights per year!) Step 2, there's a full commitment from the Minister to fully remove all waste when a facility becomes available After 40 years, for individuals to try and stop Property NSW's progress; preventing relief from real issues, while continuing to damage the reputation and value of our Hunters Hill suburb, is very troubling - particularly when our issue is being used deliberately in support of her preferred election candidate Richard Quinn. (NB Richard has confirmed several times that he is unwilling to use Nelson Parade as an election issue - Richard please make this clear to your election squad). See more

08.01.2022 Wednesday 6th March - MISLEADING INFORMATION & SCAREMONGERING IS DAMAGING TO ALL OF US There have been recent examples of misleading statements to the media and in e-mails, including shared photos with deliberately misleading text. False information risks the broader community not understanding the reality of our situation (which is well laid out in Anthony Roberts letter below). Scaremongering, and sharing misleading information risks; the proposed plan to finally remove this issue from our lives, and also risks the property values not only for Nelson Parade, but also the broader Hunters Hill community. We have asked that the information is corrected, with fair and reasonable warning that we will escalate to formal action.

07.01.2022 There is only only one actionable plan to remediate the Nelson Parade site in Hunters Hill. This plan has been formulated by Property NSW and we are thankful for the support of the Member for Lane Cove, Anthony Roberts. With the support of our local Community, we could see the plan fully implemented and completed in under 2 years. Hunters Hill, please get behind this plan so we can all move on!! Please show your support by liking and sharing this page, adding a comment or like Edward Bracks (TWT 6/3/19), send your comment to the TWT.

07.01.2022 RICHARD QUINN CLAIMS "MISLEADING" STATEMENTS WITH "MISLEADING" STATEMENTS... Three days from the election, it would make good sense for a candidate to lay down policy and plans - but Richard Quinn instead chooses to use his precious column inches to attack one of our community's revered elder stateswomen... and in doing so, ironically misleads with incorrect statements. Richard claims a position of "expeditious and full remediation" for Nelson Parade, yet has told us (and oth...ers) he opposes Property NSW plan - the only plan - for expeditious and full remediation. Richard - you could support the Property NSW plan which helps unfairly distressed residents (including an elderly lady), but instead you oppose it, potentially condemning our neighbours to many more years of inaction. Please leave the elderly ladies in our community alone - it's not nice and not respectful. And once again, please stop using a very sensitive community issue for your political ambition. See more

06.01.2022 As one of the original "Kelly's Bush Battlers", Rosemary gave us all a wonderful bushland park, let's return the favour and give Rosemary safety and well being by supporting Property NSW's plan!

05.01.2022 MORE MISLEADING INFORMATION.. This morning a Hunters Hill community group received an e-mail from a Nelson Parade resident again containing factually incorrect information - with several inaccuracies not worth dignifying, but also referencing a "majority" of residents in the street opposed to Property NSW's proposal with a small group supporting... The facts and numbers were wrong. Even the implication that a numeric vote will resolve the differing opinions in the street - a...llegedly fuelled by comments from the Mayor Mark Bennet - is also wrong and misleading. There are affected families who need this issue finally out of their lives, it is shameful that other residents target these families for their own political gains, and opportunity to gain "concessions" for themselves. There's a Property NSW's plan progressing to remove all waste materials from Nelson Parade, restoring quality of life, and value to Nelson Parade and the broader Hunters Hill community. I struggle to understand why anyone would actively oppose this. Let's remove the misinformation and self interest, and get this done by 2021. See more

05.01.2022 FURTHER MISINFORMATION SHARED BY PHILIPPA CLARK Adding to the examples already referenced on this page (two of which Philippa has acknowledged with uncontested apologies), another example has now surfaced. In recent published statements, Philippa has claimed incorrectly; - that Hunters Hill Council has rejected Property NSW’s proposal NPRG leadership has contacted the Mayor Mark Bennett who confirmed this statement was untrue.... This behaviour is potentially damaging to a very concerned resident community, not just in Nelson Parade, but to the value of our suburb and the relationship we have with our elected Councillors. Philippa has been asked once again, to apologise and to correct the misleading information she has shared. See more

04.01.2022 ROSEMARY MANUSU, resident in Nelson Parade since 1965, asked if I would share her recent email and the attached Factsheet below; Dear Members of the community, My name is Rosemary Manusu and I’ve been a resident of Nelson Parade for more than 54 years and it was 40 years ago I received the Contamination Notification letter dated 17/1/1978. The issue of remediating Nelson Parade has impacted me and my family for longer than anyone in the street. Recently many of you would be ...aware that there is a proposal to finally remediate Nelson Parade. I reluctantly send this email to you being one of those families most affected and for the longest time, I believe it’s important the community have the opportunity to understand the situation we face. There has been much written about this proposal and more recently there have been those using Nelson Parade as a political issue. In this process there have been many misleading and false statements made primarily it seems to confuse and scare the community to support a political agenda. Unfortunately, I have seen this many times in the last 40 years. If I could quote a popular saying, everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts. In the spirit of providing a factual understanding of the Nelson Parade issue I attach a Fact Sheet. This Fact Sheet has been prepared by the Nelson Parade Remediation Group - this group supports action to end decades of failed previous attempts to remediate the street. Its purpose is to provide factually based information regarding the Nelson Parade site remediation free of a political agenda. If you are interested I would be pleased if you could follow our Nelson Parade Remediation Group Facebook - page https://www.facebook.com/Nelson-Parade-Remediation-Group-414559402628923/?epa=SEARCH_BOX . If you believe there are errors in the content of this Fact Sheet then please let us know. Most importantly though, when you consider this important issue please do so based upon the facts. In that way you will be helping me, my family and those most affected by the urgent need to remediate Nelson Parade. Rosemary Manusu Honorary Chair NPRG
