We are addressing this issue and do apologise for any inconvenience. If your issue is an emergency, please call 000.... We will repost when the issue has been fixed. 17.01.2022 Tomaree COVID testing information update: We are pleased to notify that the HNE health 3 lane drive-through testing service is operating at the Tomaree Sporting Complex between the hours of 8am and 4pm - 7 days. From tomorrow - Friday 24th July, you will need an appointment time for this drive through clinic as well as at the Tomaree Community Hospital. To make an appointment at either testing site, please call 4964 7497. *Please note, children under the age of 5 years need ...to be tested at the Tomaree Community Hospital. They are experiencing a high volumes of calls, so please be patient when calling to book an appointment. Laverty pathology is also conducting tests at their pop up COVID testing clinic at the Tomaree Community Hospital - however you do need a referral for testing from your GP. If you need a referral and are a regular patient of Nelson Plaza Clinic, please call us - we will take your details and a doctor/nurse will ring you for a Telehealth appointment to complete your referral request. We will then email the referral straight to Laverty for you - YOU DO NOT NEED TO COME TO OUR CLINIC. Thank you to everyone for your patience with our clinic. As you can all appreciate we have been extremely busy over the past week and our staff and doctors are following the guidelines required by the NSW department of Health to keep our community as safe as we possible can.

13.01.2022 In light of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in our community we would like to highlight the important steps members of our community must take. 1. If you have a cough, cold, sore throat, fever, shortness of breath loss of taste or smell you MUST self isolate. 2. Then contact your GP to get a referral for a COVID-19 test. COVID-19 tests are currently being performed by Laverty Pathology at Tomaree Community Hospital between 08:30 and 15:30 Monday to Friday. A referral from your ...regular GP is required for this. 3. Continue to self isolate even if your test is negative to avoid spreading illness to others (who then may need isolation and testing etc). You can come out of isolation when your symptoms have resolved. 4. Those without symptoms do not need to be tested unless advised by NSW health. 5. Hand washing, not touching your face and social distancing are the best way to reduce spread in our community. 6. Consider wearing a mask when out in public. To do our part in protecting our community we will be moving back to predominantly Telehealth consultations. These can be booked by calling 4981 2555.

13.01.2022 To our dear patients, As the Coronavirus numbers remain low, particularly in Hunter New England, our clinic is returning to more normal services. Our waiting room has reopened with reduced numbers allowed at any one time. As such, we would appreciate if patients attend appointments on-time and with a max of 1 support person. ... We are offering a full range of doctor services including in-clinic GP appointments, health assessments, chronic disease management, skin checks, children’s health and immunisations. We also provide allied health including physiotherapy, podiatry, exercise physiology, dieticians and occupational therapy. Please call us on 4981 2555 to book your appointment. We are still offering telehealth appointments for those who prefer. All patients with cold/flu/sore throat symptoms will have to have a telehealth assessment with their GP initially.

07.01.2022 Important reminder for our local community It is of the utmost importance that people who have ANY symptoms such as cough, sore throat, fever, runny nose, loss of taste/smell, muscle aches stay at home and do not leave the house for any reason, unless they are being tested for COVID-19 or need medical attention because they are getting worse. This is regardless of the result of their COVID-19 test. ... The COVID-19 nose and throat swab is not a perfect test and can give an unreliable reading. Early or late in the illness it is not effective at identifying patients with COVID-19 as demonstrated in the chart below. For example, someone who was in Salmander Bay Shopping Centre on 20th July and infected with COVID-19 gets tested on 24th July before they develop symptoms, the test is likely negative. When they get their negative test result they go back about their normal life. Then they start to get a sore throat, fever and headache 2 days later but say I’m ok, my test was negative. They then spread the infection to close contacts such as family, work colleagues, at the daycare or school drop off or when going for coffee. Leading to more cases, return to lockdown and more lost jobs. This is why anyone with symptoms MUST stay home. This includes toddlers and children. This is the only way we can control the spread of COVID-19 and protect the livelihood and way of life in our community.
