13.01.2022 We are very sad to learn Ray Austin passed away on Sunday night. Ray Austin was a highly valued and respected member of the NEMJFA Board serving as both Treasurer and Umpire Supervisor. Ray was also our friend. Ray will be remembered as a wonderful mentor to all the umpires and a close friend to many RIP #RayAustin

09.01.2022 It is with mixed feelings that Nemjfa can now advise the Executive in conjunction with our clubs have negotiated with the SANFL and all parties have agreed that the SANFL will let NEMJFA clubs keep under 6/7 competitions for 2017/8 and all current rules as per the NEMJFA Matrix 2017 if clubs went to SANFL Juniors ,as a result there was a meeting held last monday 28th November it was voted by a majority of our member clubs to affiliate with the SANFL Juniors for 2017 and onw...ards under those above agreements. I say mixed emotions as it is the end of a 63 year era of junior footy association in the north east that is sad but we are also proud of our fight on behalf of all our clubs for the past 2 years mainly due to the under 6/7 issue but we have now negotiated that and won that point and others on your behalf and more importantly on behalf of the 400/700 new under 6s we introduce to footy every year that has to be nothing but good for Aussie rules football now and going forward. This statement is from myself im sure there will be more forthcoming on here so stay tuned and a huge thankyou to you all for your support over the years. Shaun Hartwig Chairman NEMJFA

03.01.2022 It is with love and sadness that we farewell one of our own tomorrow. Shaun Hartwig was Chairman of NEMJFA in the last few years of the Association. He was highly respected in the football community and dedicated his time and energy to junior football in particular supporting Clubs in the transition to the SANFL Juniors. He was a great family man, they came first and foremost. His love for football and junior development, making a difference were hallmarks of a man who genuinely cared, volunteering his time to support the Association. He was a former Chairman at Para Hills and coached juniors prior to joining NEMJFA committee. RIP Shaun
