11.01.2022 The novelty of thinking up registered names for foals has long since passed me by. However, I do wonder what the breeders who name their foals after popular radio songs or celebrities are gonna do this year?! Will there be an influx of foals registered as Flatten The Curve, Global Pandemics and Stay At Home??... Maybe even Panic Shopper, Social Distance or New Normal?! On a serious note - I hope prospective breeders have plans in place to use horse transporters to get mares to stud if borders remain closed. Dam: Docs Sweet Amber Jackie has been handled and ridden in the past by kids, shown and done PC. I bought her to use as a broodmare. Shes a quiet, sweet, gentle and sensible mare who is an easy keeper. She ties up all day, easily caught and loaded, no fuss mare to have around. Jackie is not 100% sound as shes slightly stiff in off hind stifle and has a fluid lump on near fore knee. Shes straight and correct and a beautifully put together mare with strong and sound conformation besides this. I dont believe this would stop her being enjoyed by a child or adult who wished to do steady trail rides or learn to ride on her but I dont think shed handle consistent hard fast work or jumping. There is nothing to say with hard feeding and body work her soundness couldnt improve, however isnt rugged and easily keeps on grass currently here I recently rode her fresh straight out of the paddock after not being sat on for 3 years and she happily hacked off loose rein and walked, trotted and cantered few circles to which the onlookers comments were, Looks like she was ridden yesterday. She is not a rushy or pushy mare and is responsive and relaxed to go about her business Her sire, Oaks Jackhammer was a well recognised top Australian cutting horse. Jackie would easily continue to be bred from for a few more years and has raised pretty and correct foals whove sold easily Shes currently in foal and available after weaning around Feb 21.
