19.01.2022 Interim ban on hoverboards that do not meet specific safety requirements. The interim ban took effect on Saturday 19 March 2016. http://accc.gov.au/update/act-now-on-unsafe-hoverboards On 29 January 2016, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) published UL 2272 - Outline of Investigation for Electrical Systems for Self-balancing Scooters, a framework to evaluate, test and certify safe interaction between the battery and charger systems of hoverboards. ... At Smart Wheels Australia, we take our products and its safety very seriously. We concurred with the tests in UL 2272. Our Engineer has also carried out the same or similar vigorous tests on the battery packs and chargers used for our neo boards. From the very beginning, we recognised that it is impractical to perform tests on every neo boards, so instead, we've worked very closely with our manufacturing partners to ensure the right parts, components and most importantly, the right battery packs are used in our neo boards. We even worked on and improved on the manufacturing processes so to improvement on the overall quality of of our neo boards. We welcome any and all feedback regarding this ban and/or the quality of our neo boards.
