24.01.2022 Need to move? Try this modified Salute to the Sun. Call it the Mild version. There's Medium and Hot coming. If you are new to yoga and feeling the frustration of lock down, do some stretching and strengthening to work your muscles and joints and get the blood flowing and feel the energy. If I am rushing in the morning, I'll do five of these. Better than nothing. This video is straight off the card so a bit rough, but something to get you going. Enjoy.

22.01.2022 Possibly the easiest and most enjoyable form of exercise - a walk with friends. You don't have to go fast or far. This is me with my buddies, Catriona and Kirsten yesterday against the picturesque backdrop of Millaa Millaa, maintaining a safe distance from each other. Our mouths actually got more or a workout than our bodies!
22.01.2022 I have spent years trying to get my daughter to exercise without success. That has changed. All it took was lock down during a pandemic.

17.01.2022 My passion for fitness isn't all talk.
16.01.2022 Salute to the Sun A, the traditional version. This is a bit more of a challenge than the Mild Strength version because when moving into low plank, or Chaturunga, the aim is to use your upper body strength and your glutes and quads to keep your thighs and torso off the ground and roll through into Upward Dog then you get a break in Downward Dog. It took me four weeks of practice before I could just manage to keep skin off the mat. I am not naturally sporty and am uncoordinated so I reckon it took me longer than it will take the average person. It's hard but set a SMART-ASS goal (sign up for newsletters) and practice daily. Yoga is not just a physical challenge but also a mental one. Try just five each morning and five at night. Your body and brain will thank you for it. Take it away!
14.01.2022 This week's newsletter covers goal setting and why goals are important. Here's a snapshot. Too often we want to exercise more, eat healthier or meditate, but life gets in the way. Health goals are the easiest to sideline but with a few tips, we can achieve them. So, how does goal setting help improve our wellbeing - we make choices that are directed to achieving our goal, we also research how to adopt healthier behaviours and so increase our knowledge and finally, we set mini-goals that are easy to achieve and they give us the confidence to keep going to our main goal. 11.01.2022 This one's for you, CC. It'll bring a post-exertional zen. Was to be 5 mins but a tad longer. Enjoy.
10.01.2022 In these uncertain times, think about setting a SMART-ASS health goal and spend five minutes a day working towards it. This week’s newsletter takes you through the SMART-ASS goal setting process to maximise your goal success. Step-by-step. You’ll be amazed at how simple and formulaic it is. Read testimonials from Eloise and Steven about how they used the SMART-ASS process. Email [email protected] for a copy. Until next week, my head is officially buried in research into staying positive when house-bound because of social distancing, self-isolation or lockdown due to coronavirus. And if you have tips on staying sane and happy at the moment, please share them, even if they involve butterscotch schnapps, binge watching a series on NetFlix or long baths.
10.01.2022 For more of a challenge, try this Salute to the Sun with an added challenge incorporating the Goddess 1 pose. You may know this version as Salute to the Sun B. You are likely to feel your heart rate rise doing this Salute so do five for a bit of a cardio workout. Next we will look at incorporating other standing poses like the Goddess 2, Triangle and Side Angle poses for a full on strengthening, flexibility and cardio workout that will have you looking at yoga with fresh eyes.
10.01.2022 Until the social distancing rules change, personal trainers are able to instruct up to ten people outdoors with appropriate spacing between people. Is anyone in or around Atherton keen to participate in a walking session this Saturday morning - sunshine or soaking wet?
