24.01.2022 Great news about one of Nepali Family Silom boys. Niraj was born to a very sick mother in the Tansen hospital and at age 2 he used to get his own food from the hospital canteen as his mother was still a patient. Finally his mum was discharged but unable to look after her little boy in the challenging circumstances of life in Nepal. Niraj is now a National Taekwondo participant and is about to start army training.

22.01.2022 Just getting ready to go to Nepal in October. Things are certainly happening. The new building for skills training is up to the roof and we shall finish it when we get to Tansen in October. All our children have been passing their university and school exams. Eight very poor children have been accepted by Capitanios, the best school in the region, which will give them a good chance to get a future Little Samir has had treatment for his deafness and is doing better.(Below)... We are committed to completely support thr schooling and training of all these children so we do ask for lots of financial support.. Nothing in Nepal is free except mountains and education and training is vital but expensive. Very few of our ssisted kids fail to get ahead and find a future with hope. Digby President See more

14.01.2022 We have had a fantastic partnership with local Nepalese charity 'Creative Disabled' for many years. As the President, Sandip Bhattarai says in a report recently uploaded to our website: "We greatly appreciate the assistance of Digby and Anne Hoyal and the generosity of Australian donors through Nepali Family Inc." But there is always more to do, so please continue to support us. You can find the report on our Partners page at https://www.nepalifamily.org.au/partners

05.01.2022 The end of the financial year is an opportunity to support those in need. As is the case in many countries, young people in Nepal have had a confusing and difficult year with the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020 Nepali Family Project, alongside Mauka Nepal, has simplified its operational plans. Our priority is to keep young people in our care happy and healthy with access to safe accommodation and nutritious food. We are encouraging pragmatic responses to COVID-19, including plant...ing food crops and providing the new Training Centre as a hostel for young people as a place of refuge. Ganesh (NFP Nepal Manager) and his team are distributing financial support to over two hundred children in need. To survive the next two years and return to our core focus of training and education will require considerable financial support. If you are able, we urge you to dig deep to support those in need. Here in Australia the COVID-19 restrictions have meant that our usual social fundraising event have had to be postponed. Our website and Facebook remain functioning, and we can’t wait to see you face-to-face again soon. Thank you for your continued support! Please keep safe and well. You can donate electronically to: www.nepalifamily.org.au/donate Bank transfer to: Bank of Queensland a/c - Nepali Family Inc; B - 124 044; A/C NUMBER - 2201 3762 Or may be tax exempt if paid to: https://interserve.org.au/give/donate and marked for Nepali Family

05.01.2022 A message from our partner in Tansen, Nepal - Father Richard Vas "To All our supporters, benefactors, donors and friends. Our Dear Good Friends,... It gives me great joy to wish you all a very Happy and Glorious Easter. May the sufferings of Jesus help us to bear our daily crosses with joy and hope, and May Jesus allow you to experience the New life that the Easter brings new life situations, new perspectives, new meaning, new understanding, new hope, and good health. How is the corona virus situation in your area? I hope and pray that you are safe from its problems and that you are keeping good health. May God take good care of you and keep you close to Him. In Nepal so far the situation of the Corona virus is not alarming. So far only 9 people are tested positive and no death. Since more than a week this number remains unchanged. This is a great consolation. However, the government has taken very strong measures to prevent its spreading and the people are very well cooperating with the government. From 19th March all schools, institutions, places of worship, clubs, entertainment centers are closed and gatherings more than 10 people prohibited. From 24th March the government has clamped national lock down and the national borders are sealed. No one is allowed to get out of their houses and no public transportation. Whole Nepal is silent and closed up. Lock down will continue till 14th April. Now we get the impression that this will be extended for some more days. I suppose this rigid situation will bring good fruits. Kindly remember us too in your prayers. In Nepal too, this year there is no Holy Week Services and Easter Celebration with the people. We feel sad, but we follow the instructions of the Catholic Church and of the country. Please be assured of my humble prayers for you. Thanking you for all your kind support, your positive attitude towards me and my work, and praying for God’s abundant blessings on you, I remain, Yours sincerely, Fr. Richard Vas"

04.01.2022 Manju BK from the local Nepali Family committee visited the children's home earlier this week to support the children and carers through the serious illness of a previous resident, Rajan. She took this lovely photo of them all, including Arjun, also doing great work on the local committee.

04.01.2022 Nepali Family will have an information and handmade goods stall at the Christmas Market in Yungaburra on Sunday 15th December 2019. If you are crafty and would like to donate some Christmas-themed handicraft for our stall, or have time to help on the day, please contact us.

02.01.2022 The new skills training centre is coming along well. Thank you very much to all who have supported this fantastic project that will allow the most disadvantaged in the region ready access to basic skills training. We hope that this will lead to a range of income generating activities.

01.01.2022 Well, we came to our senses and have deferred and delayed our visit to Nepal until the airline and border situations are resolved over COVID 19. We will go as soon as it seems like a positive thing to do. Meanwhile we are very encouraged by the charity registration of the Nepal-based not-for-profit organization, Mauka Nepal ('mauka means opportunity) which will now be our key local partner who we will continue to work with from afar. We are transferring support funds as req...uired and hope all our friends will continue to help us to fund all the school and college students at this time and help to initiate the new Skills Training Centre as a key service. The main aim of the Centre is to provide skills that will enable poor young people, (especially girls who are liable to be deserted), to support themselves and their children. We intend to continue to provide support to the blind and disabled of Creative Disable Self Help Center and to encourage the new group in Chhahara to head towards self-sufficiency over time. Thank you for your continued support enabling us to do this work for the children of Nepal. Anne and Digby Hoyal STOP PRESS. Aidan Adcock, careworker for ARC Disability Services in Cairns, said of his visit on the 13th March 2020 to Silom Childrens House Had a terrific day in Tansen today. Your adopted son, Arjun, welcomed me at Silom House and also took me to the disability house. A great pleasure to meet such amazing and inspiring people. A day I won't forget in a hurry.
