25.01.2022 It's almost time...2020 Nepean Triathlon entries will open in February! Lock in your training plans as the 2020 Nepean Triathlon will be on 24th & 25th October! We will have more information over the coming weeks. But for now, here's a quick look back at 2019!
24.01.2022 Hello all. We have been just ticking along and waiting for the most recent Public Health Order update. We have been inundated with emails and messages-way too many to come back to individually sorry. Things are positive. Thanks to the numerous people who have offered help. Adam Wicks from Triathlon NSW and Mark Thomas from Panthers Triathlon Club especially. We are moving ahead-still operating under the conditions of the public health order which is a maximum of 500 people in... the venue-this includes everyone in the centre (volunteers, officials etc etc). A final call will me made over the next 7-10 days. We are crunching the numbers. Things are extremely tight. We have lost all sponsors for this years event (rather we couldnt bring ourselves to ask anyone for money, due to the fact that all our sponsors were drastically affected thanks to our mate Rona). We are keeping our fingers crossed for a grant from Destination NSW and Stuart Ayres (a great supporter of our event for many years) to help us cover the venue hire cost of the Regatta centre. Make no mistake, if we pull this off it will be bare bones. Theres no towels or shirts, we cant even guarantee a finisher medal (we will try hard for this). We will have to insist on no spectators on the Sunday and will have to look at our numbers for the Saturday event as obviously parents will need to bring the kids for the junior races. The bike course will be changed to try and cut costs with road closures. Thanks to everyone that has shown the faith and entered already. If not for you we wouldnt be in a financial position to even consider it. We are hoping to deliver the 39th edition of Australias oldest triathlon. Keep training!

23.01.2022 In a time where we have multiples of friends that have lost their jobs and other friends that have had to shut their businesses (lots of our sponsors included), it's important to keep perspective. But a huge shout out to IRONMAN and Ultra-Trail Australia who have moved their postponed race to the same weekend that we have in October. It's not as if the Nepean Triathlon has been on the last weekend in October for an extended period, or that our race dates have been published s...ince January. So disappointing that they would choose to clash with another local race with a demographic that mixes between the two disciplines. But hey, that's the ethics and morals of a multi million dollar corporation. On a side note, my wife and I have 2 UTA50 tickets that we will be throwing in the bin, rather than giving the above mentioned any chance of making another dollar out of a transfer fee. In times like these we have seen the best and truly worst of people. Stay safe people and sending love to our friends in the Tri community who are doing it really tough at the moment. We will push on
22.01.2022 Great to see long term major sponsor Atmosphere Health & Fitness Club Gym on the verge of reopening. Please see their post for details regarding social distancing and limits. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this is the beginning of a transition to normality, where the Nepean Triathlon can still take place.

15.01.2022 - COVID-19 Update - We want to be pro-active and keep you informed about COVID-19 and the 2020 Nepean Triathlon. Firstly, at this point in time, it's almost business as usual (almost), in planning the 39th Nepean Triathlon. Our event is on 24th & 25th October 2020 as we are hoping that there is no impact this year.... Our team are still forging ahead and working hard with all the necessary planning requirements to bring you this event. We will, however, continue to monitor the status of Government and Tri NSW requirements. Putting on an event that is safe for all is our #1 priority. We want to be transparent and inform you that the biggest impact for our event at this stage, will be our event t-shirts & towels. With orders required in the coming month and an over $30 000 commitment, we cannot guarantee these for the 2020 event. Putting on an event that is safe for all is our #1 priority. Ensuring the Nepean Triathlon stays financially viable is also paramount. We will be working in consultation with event suppliers to come up with a potential backup date in the event we need to postpone. Plan A is to run the event as per normal Plan B will be to run a smaller event on the same date-If we are limited to numbers it will be first in best dressed Plan C would be to postpone the event and find another suitable date Plan Z would be to cancel completely and look towards 2021 In the event that we are forced to cancel, participants can carry their entries over to 2021, or receive a refund less a small fee that is imposed on us via our 3rd party registration company. We would then be happy to credit this fee off a race entry in 2021. So, as it stands the 39th Nepean Triathlon is still going ahead. We will continue to keep you updated.

11.01.2022 This morning the NSW government released an updated public health order. Amongst a long list of important points, the following was some positive news The Minister directs that the organiser of a community sporting activity must ensure that a gathering for the activity involves no more than 500 participants. We are currently working to get our event sanctioned in line with the public health order and in partnership with triNSW. Thanks to Adam Wicks, Executive Director of T...ri NSW for his work and support of our great race. It is highly likely that a cap in numbers will remain in place for our October event. Entries will be taken on a first in, best dressed basis. Thanks to everyone that has emailed in questions. 10.01.2022 So sorry to hear of the passing of the original Ironman Dave Orlowski. I met Dave in Kona in 2014, we spoke about how his friend John Maclean was going to do the Nepean as an able bodied athlete for the first time in 26 years. My wife and I offered Dave a room at our house and 2 weeks later he flew in to take part in that special moment with John. That day saw John raise more than 200k for children in wheelchairs and him walking across the line is one of the Nepean’s proudest moments. Lots of people would remember Dave’s support of the Kids foundation and him carrying one of the kids across the line at Port Ironman (I think maybe 2011). They went to DQ him and he just laughed. He was a good guy and a friend. RIP dave. Joey
