20.01.2022 I'm really optimistic about the ability of our small businesses to stage a recovery over the next few months, once restrictions are significantly lifted. In Nepean Ward, (especially at the pointy end), approximately 60-80% of houses are holiday homes, and these will be filled to the brim during our holiday season - after all where else are people going to go this year? Even without the foreshore Caravan Park numbers, we should be able to keep our local hospitality and retail businesses busy. This is also a great opportunity for traders to take advantage of the holiday home influx and plan events to ensure not only a great time for families, young people and empty nesters, but a profitable trading period for our small businesses.
19.01.2022 It's easy to forget that a Council's primary function is to service the needs of it's ratepayers. It appears that the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council needs to be reminded of this & start working for us as intended. We shouldn't feel lucky or grateful for works & services we have paid for & are entitled to. It's election time, from this point forward let's ensure we have more control to get practical & tangible things done in the Nepean Ward. www.nepeanvoters.com
19.01.2022 Throughout the world local businesses and communities are finding ways to provide necessities like food to those who are struggling among them, often providing ...charity distribution organisations with products to help ease the real issue of putting food on the table. At the end of every day, Brumby's in Sorrento was donating all unused bread to charities in Rosebud for exactly this purpose, but I was extremely saddened to hear that the MP Shire Council has now prohibited them from donating these overstocked goods. Does anyone know why this has happened? It can't be from food handling practices, as it is the same process used to sell us bread. I'm sure most of us have had day old bread before, so product quality can't be the reason. Before I go through the arduous task of trying to get an answer from the Council, I was hoping someone could enlighten me. 17/11. I have since spoken to council and am waiting for a reply from the MPSC Health Team. 18/11 Council advises that bread without bacon, cheese or other perishables can be donated to Charities. Have called Brumbies and Bakers Delight to confirm, they advised they are donating to farmers for animal food. Will chat to Rosebud Charities who distribute food and see if it is something they would like to pursue.
16.01.2022 FARM GATE SALES MPSC wants our local farmers to only sell what is produced on their land or maybe within a max of 5kms from their property. What do you think about this? I think Farm Gate stores should also be able to sell fresh produce that is sourced directly from another grower or artisan manufacturer (bread etc). No-one wants to see big name supermarket produce in these stores, but I certainly don't think it is the Council's right to restrict their trade.

13.01.2022 Yes, I know I should let it go, but it has really bothered me that someone would lie about me and use such inflammatory and hateful terms like "racist" and I think "transphobic" - especially when it was totally baseless. I had no idea this could be politically motivated, or even possibly be to aid other candidates. A prominent member of the Greens Political Party is the gentleman who threw the grenade with his initial comment, and as he is in politics, it is my opinion he ...knew exactly what he was doing (DM me for his name). Strangely it seems "do not vote for her" instructions have also been given to members of a lot of environmental groups as evidenced by posts saying exactly that - even though I actively provide solutions for emission reduction. I'm only here to get practical and tangible things done through actions, not continually talk about global issues, I want to remain focused on the job at hand, and this is just a diversion See more
11.01.2022 TROLLS....JUST STOP I have been systematically trolled by "people" making offensive unsubstantiated claims. Just to clarify: QUESTIONING IF A TERM (THAT MADE ME FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE) IS RACIST - IS NOT BEING RACIST... REPOSTING AN IMAGE MENTIONING THAT "ONLY MEN AND WOMEN WERE COUNTED IN COVID NUMBERS AND NOT THE OTHER GENDERS", JUST HIGHLIGHTS THAT THE OTHER GENDERS AREN'T TAKEN SERIOUSLY BY OUR MEDIA - IT IS NOT TRANSPHOBIC. Both these posts were taken from my personal fb page, and was the worst thing they could find.
06.01.2022 SORRENTO FORESHORE PUBLIC TOILETS We should be kind to foot traffic from the Ferry - after all they've paid money to come here! Our foreshore is like our "good room" and she needs work. Please note the signage - ghastly!! And less than decorative bins on arrival, really?
