23.01.2022 Dear grade 6 parents, Lowanna College has just sent out their booklists for 2021. Please do NOT order your books at the moment. We will be told which language your child will be studying on Monday the 30th of November. Once we know which language your child is studying, we will let you know, so that you can order the correct booklist.... Booklist orders close on December the 11th. Also, based on updated government advice a single transition day will now be held on Tuesday the 8th of December. You should receive a letter about this within the next day or two. An extended orientation program will still be running for all students for the first 3 days of Term 1, 2021. If your child is attending a high school other than Lowanna, they should be in contact with you directly. Thank you, James Kuchel Transition Coordinator.

20.01.2022 Important Information Regarding Ease of Restrictions Dear Families, We have just received notification from the Department of Education of a significant easing of COVID-19 restrictions in schools.... The changes relate to several areas such as student orientation, graduation, parent attendance on campus, student assemblies, sport, tours and visitors. While we are delighted with the changes announced, the extremely late notice poses some significant challenges for plans already in place, with a little over three weeks of school remaining. The various end-of-year events already have arrangements in place (including catering), and are still subject to number limits (indoor and outdoor). For these reasons we ask that families understand the limits of our capacity in the next few days to make changes to multiple events. Where small changes to include parents can be made, please be assured that they will be, as long as we are within the number limits imposed by Department of Education guidelines. While some families may feel that these arrangements do not meet their expectations or hopes, we ask that our community respects the tireless efforts and professional judgement of our staff. It has been a very trying year for us all and we are most grateful for your understanding and for the continued and extraordinary efforts of our staff. Further information about Kinder-Prep Transition and Grade 6 Graduation will be communicated as soon as adjusted arrangements are made and finalised. Yours sincerely, Julie Skee & Nick Walsh

20.01.2022 Wear orange to school on Wednesday 25th November as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. As a Respectful Relationships Initiative school, this term students have been learning about gender-based violence. We encourage students to wear orange to school on Wednesday 25th November as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, which is a global campaign dedicated to raising awareness about the impact of violence, particularly on women.... The campaign starts 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and concludes 10 December, Human Rights Day. These dates were chosen in order to symbolically link violence against women with human rights issues. In particular, this campaign emphasises the fact that violence, in any form, is a violation of human rights. During this period, students will engage in activities around the theme Say No to Disrespect. See more

17.01.2022 Dear Families, Please see below for important information for our school community: Extreme Weather... We have received information from Lowanna College to inform us that the buses coordinated by them will not be operating on Friday 11th June due to a student free day and extreme weather. This includes the Erica/Rawson and interchange buses. Students that normally travel to school on these buses will need alternative arrangements. If this is not possible, please contact the school to discuss and we will mark your child as an approved absence due to extreme weather. We strongly recommend that if transporting your child or children to school is in any way unsafe, that you do not do so in order to ensure the safety of your family. Please contact us if this is the case. The South Eastern Victoria Incident Management Team will be meeting at 3pm today to consider any school closures for tomorrow based on up to date information about flooding, bus routes, losses of power and telephone etc. Once we have been provided with information from them, we will communicate anything that impacts the regular operations of our school. Update Covid-19 Guidelines School Disco The decision has been made to postpone the school disco as the restrictions in place make the supervision and pick up/drop off arrangements quite difficult. We will reschedule (if possible) and communicate further information once we do so. Swimming Mr. Pullar will be in contact with the Moe/Newborough Leisure Centre upon his arrival back from 5/6 Camp to ascertain whether swimming programs can resume. We will communicate further information once this is known. Breakfast Club Whilst Breakfast Club will continue to be in operation, unfortunately we are unable to have non-essential visitors on-site. This includes parent helpers, therefore school staff will run Breakfast Club until further notice. Parent Helpers As above, we are unable to have parent helpers on-site until further notice. We will communicate with families when this changes. School Assemblies At present, large gatherings are not recommended. Therefore we will not be conducting school assemblies for the remainder of this term. Student Awards will be conducted at school and photos printed in the weekly newsletter. Musical Rehearsals Musical rehearsals can continue as scheduled. Please continue to pick your child up from outside the gym and maintain 1.5m physical distance from others. Please ensure you supervise your child in the playground, staff carpark and surrounding areas to ensure their safety. When in your vehicle, please adhere to the 10km speed limit and monitor for children to ensure the safety of our school community. Thank you all for your continued support, Julie Skee and Nick Walsh

13.01.2022 Return to School - Pick Up and Drop Off Please see this information just posted to Compass: Dear Families,... The Department of Education has commenced rolling out information regarding the return to school in Term 4. A critical aspect of the return to on-site learning will be a strict enforcement of physical distancing requirements at the start and finish of the school day. It is imperative that schools take every step available to ensure parents and carers do not congregate in breach of continuing restrictions. This must include: clear signage at school entrance and exit points to ensure physical distancing is maintained clear communication to all parents, carers and families about the importance of following the heath directives in relation to the start and end of the school day. Both the front and back gate will be in use each day. Please ensure your child knows which gate to use at the end of each day. We ask that, unless absolutely necessary, families remain in or near their vehicle rather than congregating at gates. The school will continue to provide additional staff supervision to support with the beginning and end of each day. All students catching the Little Saints bus are to go to the library steps after the bell and remain here until the bus arrives. They are not to be playing on the playground as this delays the bus getting to other schools. The Term 4 Operational Guide will be released by the Department in the next week or so. Once received, we will keep the community updated with any changes that may effect us. Thank you for your ongoing support, Julie Skee & Nick Walsh

13.01.2022 Dear Families, Due to significant flooding in the area, a number of staff are unable to get to school today. We will need to run alternative programs where necessary.
