16.01.2022 Thanks to those who attended last weekend's education session and gave encouraging feedback afterwards. It was great to have you show your interest. For those that missed the last slide - feel welcome to come and join us any time. We are very keen to have some more interested people join up as members. You do not need to have any prior knowledge in aquaponics or anything related.

15.01.2022 Thanks to the many dozens of people who came into our Aquaponics Study Centre during the Botanical Bazaar today at Country Paradise - Nerang. To those interested in learning more, we will be running a couple of education sessions shortly, during Saturday afternoons. Please watch here for the dates. We also welcome new members who want to learn 'hands-on' - especially useful if you are thinking about creating your own aquaponics and/or wicking bed systems at home.

13.01.2022 The next Nerang Community Gardens working bee for us and the garden members is this Saturday, starting with breakfast at 7am. For the working bee, we are asked to work on common gardens tasks, so perhaps we should include weeding the common area around the aquaponics unit, and the back entrances and fenceline??

04.01.2022 Neil Ross presenting the first part of our 'Introduction to Aquaponics' session last Saturday, before morning tea and AquaDans tour through our aquaponics unit. We can now present via a projector onto whiteboard right there at the Nerang Community Gardens clubhouse beside our aquaponics unit. Our next public education session will be late May, probably around the 21st. Watch this Page. Welcome to our new members who attended this session and joined up on the day. We will be onsite again this Easter Saturday morning.

03.01.2022 Advance notice: our next education session at the aquaponics unit. This session will once again be a bit different in content to previous sessions. We will have a similar but slightly shorter "Introduction to Aquaponics" presentation than previous sessions, and then AquaDan TheMan will take you through the unit and show you our latest setup, which is being refined weekly. As usual, we will put on morning tea. Please just email us at [email protected] to let us know you are coming, or tell us here, and pay on arrival. We like to start at 10am sharp.

01.01.2022 A first prototype of a portable aquaponics system, mainly to demonstrate its basic components, including pumps and a simple flood and drain siphon. This was built and first used last week at an education session. Here the flood cycle timings are measured based on changing the pumping 'head' between 500mm and 700mm. The next prototype will use a more robust fish tank, and also have a sump tank added to the bottom of the stack. It will also show a range of grow media in the grow-bed. The battery will live in the box that is beneath the grow-bed. It is recharged from mains and/or a small solar panel.
