21.01.2022 The Pink Story Be aware that when matching pinks not all pinks have the same under tone.I heard a conversation about pink today which has prompted me to write this as sometimes matching pinks seems difficult and this is why. If you imagine mixing paints. A cool based pink, you would be basically using true red and white.Depending on how much white to red will determine the depth of the pink e.g more white will give a pastel effect more red a hot pink.if you ad blue this would... give a slight purple tone but still cool based.Cool based pinks can appear to take the color out of someone with a olive complexion and can even age the look of the skin. But some pinks belong in the warm family. This family of pinks are made up of red and white but also may have a hint of yellow or orange to give a slight coral effect.Even the smallest amount in the dye or paint will change the reflect.Warmer pinks will throw warmth on the face which is not so good if you have a ruddy complexion already, but great if you have a more olive or warm tone in your skin. 17.01.2022 I witness a bride today that had obviously spent a lot of money on her bridal party but the dark navy colour in the bridemaids dresses cheapened the whole look. In personal styling there is a term " Chromatic s". It relates to the harshness in modulation of colors. Let me explain, even if you get the colors wrong for a persons skin tone, knowing this could save you from a disaster and wasted money. Your natural coloring and that of your bridesmaids will tell you what is going ...to work best. Take a black and white picture of yourself. How much white to black do you see? Do you see extremes of white and black or do you see a mixture of dark tone greys, medium tones or do you see mainly light tone greys. This is going to tell you the depth of colour you should go with and what colour accessories or flowers to go with. For example,if what you see is various shades of light greys mainly in a black and white picture of yourself, then putting black to darker depth colours is properly going to look thick and heavy on you and can drain colour from your skin especially in a photograph. You are best to stick with medium to lighter depth in your colours and when you are mixing and matching don't go to dark in your colour choices for example dark purple dress with very light flowers or the males in black suits with white shirts when a light charcoal with off white maybe be better as it is not as extreme in the two colours. On the other hand if you see black or dark greys and then light grey or white,as you would see in a black and white picture of a person with pale skin and dark eyes and hair, then very dark and very light combinations will work well such as black and white , dark navy and white etc.Your natural colouring works well with extreme differences in colour combinations. [Click and drag to move] In the the groom has dark hair and eyes, and pale skin. The black and white in his suit and shirt works well as it matches his extreme coloring. The bride though has a softer look with golden blonde hair, light to medium skin an blue eyes. The choice of a cream dress and pearls instead of stark white work well as it is softer matching her natural colouring. It may seem like a small thing but it makes a difference between looking OK or looking amazing. To find out what works best for you book a colour and style session at www.neridalamprill.com

07.01.2022 Is there such a thing as comfortable Wedding day shoes??? Look at if they are build up at the front your foot sits flatter which can be more comfortable. Wedges can work well and are more stable. Heels... The heel should be in proportion to the body. A thin silhouette heel on a thicker leg will make the leg look heavier. A chunky platform on a thin leg will look unbalanced and exaggerate the skinniness of the leg. If the heel is too high in proportion to the body, the calf muscle will flex, making the leg look wider and shorter. Another option is to have your flats ready to go after all the photos are done. After all its your day and you want to enjoy it. Don’t forget you can Colour nearly anything. ( I have even been known to spray paint if it’s just for one day especially if under a dress). Lots of different inserts now as well to aid in comfort. Just wear your shoes in before the day to make sure you can go all day.

07.01.2022 I hate to say it but I remember the plunging necklines of the 70s jumpsuits and who can forget the 80s shoulder pads just to give the plunge a higher starting point to enhance the power dressing. Well designers seem to be in favor of them again. The plunging neck line can work well if you; Have a sort neck as it will help to lengthen the neck area Square or a round face.... Have wide shoulders Large in the chest as it can help slim, but be sure you have enough support. Short in statue as the vertical as it will elongate. Wide in body shape as it will elongate Avoid if you: Narrow across the shoulder .If you really just have to have a plunging neck line have it start as close the shoulder line as possible If you have a long thin face as if will draw the eye down vertically and create imbalance to your features and can age you If you are very tall or long and thin, as it will over exaggerate your shape and you will look out of balance. * If you are wearing a plunging neckline remember to think about breast support. Nothing looks worse then saggy boobs. Hanging out of the plunge. This is just general in formation as the rest of the dress design; hair, accessories etc. can also influence the over all look. Having a personal styling session prior to any of you purchases will ensure you look amazing and don’t make costly mistakes. Email Nerida Lamprill at [email protected] for your styling consultation.
