23.01.2022 Hi all It is with great sadness that Phil and I have had to make the decision to further shut down our operations. We will open the coffee shop tomorrow (Wednesday) from 9.30am to 2pm as previously advertised as well as the pub through the window from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. ... Thereafter we will only open the pub three afternoons a week - Monday, Wednesday and Friday through the window from 4.30pm to 6.30pm so that we can still provide essential services to our community (mail and gas exchange) as well as take away drinks, snacks and the like. When Easter comes we will open Thursday afternoon instead of Good Friday as no take away alcohol sales are allowed on Good Friday. We will also open Tuesday afternoon instead of Easter Monday. At the risk of stating the obvious, the pub will be closed on Anzac Day. We hope you all understand our decision and thank you all for your support through the recent bushfires and now the virus. The time for better days will come and we trust we will be able to reopen properly. In the meantime we hope you all keep safe and positive through these challenging times. We will obviously keep you posted if there are any further changes. Phil and Sarah
20.01.2022 Hi all First of all thank you so much for your thoughts and kind words, it does mean a lot to us. We are reopening on Friday with new opening hours and operations.... COFFEE SHOP Tuesday to Saturday - 9.30am to 2pm Sunday & Monday - 8am to 12pm You can get take away coffee, drinks, sausage rolls, quiches and the like as well as buy take away alcohol... Do note though that, because of licensing restrictions, there cannot be any take away alcohol Sunday mornings before 10am. PUB Monday to Saturday - 4.30pm to 6.30pm The pub will be open through the third window near the ice freezer for take aways only. On Friday and Saturday nights there will be one meal available take away, which will change each time. For this week we’ll do chicken satay on Friday night and curried sausages on Saturday night. SOCIAL DISTANCING We have removed all the tables at the front of the pub as we cannot encourage people to sit down and gather at the front. Please remember we are only allowed to provide a take away service and the social distancing rules do need to be observed if we are to continue trading. We hope you all understand. PUBLIC TOILETS Please note we will not open the pub toilets through the side gate. If you need to use the facilities remember there are public toilets at the sports ground, opposite the Community Hall. We may have to adjust hours and operations further, it is all trial and error at this stage and we do thank you for your patience. Cheers Phil & Sarah
19.01.2022 Chalkie White will be playing at the pub this Friday night, 7.30pm start. Hope you can make it!
17.01.2022 Hi everyone Since our reopening we have had a lot of visitors and travellers ask us about the bushfires. I guess 10 months on the drive to Nerriga is still very confronting in some areas and parts of the landscape are yet to show signs of regeneration... For those of you who want to know a bit more about what happened in our village back in December, tune in to Braidwood FM on Saturday at 5pm to listen to our community’s story.... A huge thank you to Clare Young and everyone involved in this project for taking the time to create this podcast and for helping our community, and hopefully others, in their journey to recovery. Phil & Sarah
16.01.2022 Hi everyone Just letting you know the pub reopened last Tuesday with new trading hours as follows:- PUB... Tuesday to Friday only (no weekends yet) from 12pm to 6.30pm. Lunch from 12pm to 3pm. No dinners. Please note at this stage menu is limited to pretty much burgers and fish & chips, sorry no cutlets or schnitties yet. On the up side though, draught beer is back on tap COFFEE SHOP Wednesday to Friday - 9am to 11.30am Saturday & Sunday - 9am to 1pm Coffee and homemade snacks such as sausage rolls, quiches and pies available until sold out. We know it’s not ideal and we apologise for the inconvenience but it’s a start and hopefully we can open longer hours and resume weekend trading soon... In the meantime, just a reminder that social distancing rules continue to apply and registering remains compulsory upon entry (even to merely purchase take aways). Thank you all for your support, we look forward to seeing you! Cheers Phil & Sarah
14.01.2022 To each and every one of you who has so kindly helped our community through the recent bushfires, thank you so very much. Your generosity has simply been amazing and we are ever so grateful for all the item donations that have come to our village. After discussions with the Nerriga Progress & Sporting Association and our local volunteers who have been looking after item donations, we have all agreed that moving forward the best way to further support people who have been fir...e impacted in our community is by making money donations rather than by sending items which may or may not be useful to them. This is the reason why we are inviting anyone who wishes to help to please make a donation to the Braidwood Life Centre. Details are set out below. If you wish your donation to be specifically applied to the Nerriga area (which includes Nerriga's surrounding localities such as Sassafras, Corang, Oallen and Tomboye), please mark 'Nerriga' in the EFT description. We would also like to thank everyone who has come to the pub to support us since the roads have reopened, we are so very grateful for your visit and we hope to see you again and again, and again! Thank you all so much Phil & Sarah See more
14.01.2022 We’re the last Sunday of the month! Live music this afternoon with Matt Dent. Head our way and enjoy the tunes, 2pm start.
14.01.2022 Live music on Sunday arvo (29 September) with Cambo. Don't miss out, it's always a good time when Glenn plays at the pub!
12.01.2022 Hi all Just a bit of an update... a few have messaged or phoned asking if the pub was open in light of the current restrictions easing and/or asking why we were not doing take away meals. What we should have said in our last post is that we have been working hard renovating various bits and pieces around the place, including the kitchen which needed a new floor put in. ... Yes, the restrictions have eased but we are still awaiting further instructions as to how it will all work and our understanding is that the 50 person limit on patrons is still subject to a 4sqm per person requirement. All this to say our renovations are unlikely to be completed until at least mid June and even then we will have to reassess whether it is possible for us to open our doors safely and sustainably. We are just mindful that reopening and running at a loss might put us in an even more dire position than staying shut a little longer to ensure we are still here in the long run. We hope you understand our predicament and we can’t wait to reopen and see each of you for a cold beer and a good time! We will obviously keep you posted and thank you again for your understanding and ongoing support. In the meantime we hope you are all well and safe. Cheers Phil & Sarah
10.01.2022 THE COFFEE SHOP AND THE PUB WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC ON SATURDAY 21 MARCH 2020. We are holding a private event with our community to thank all the emergency services men and women who so kindly and selflessly came and assisted our village through the recent bushfires. We trust you all understand our decision and we apologise for the inconvenience it may create.... For those of you travelling through on that day, remember there are public toilets at the sports ground, opposite the Community Hall. Thank you all for your understanding. Cheers Phil & Sarah
07.01.2022 Hi everyone Just a quick update to let you know we are still here(!) but unfortunately not able to reopen yet as restrictions are still fairly cumbersome. We look forward to welcoming you back when we can finally open up again and we will obviously keep you posted as that time comes.... Thank you all for your ongoing support. Cheers Phil & Sarah
04.01.2022 Hi everyone Sorry we have been silent for the past few weeks but lots has happened in our small village of Nerriga due to the recent bushfires. First of all we would like to thank everyone who has helped our community get through these very challenging times. The RFS, the SES, the Council workers, all our community members, all the people that have sent or brought so many generous donations to our village, it is difficult to name every single person as there have been so many... who have offered help. In all this hardship we are so blessed to have had so much support and we are so very grateful. Many of our locals have experienced terrible loss and traumatic times and as a community we all have a very long road to recovery ahead of us. The process has already started and together, with all the help available, we will get through the hurdles of healing and rebuilding. You may have heard that the Braidwood to Nowra Road reopened this morning. **EDIT** We understand Oallen Road and Turpentine Road have also reopened **EDIT**. With the reopening of the roads many have asked whether the pub would start operating again. We invite everyone to come and visit again, bearing in mind that you will be visiting a community that has suffered long lasting scars. Please be kind and understanding. You will find resilient people who, despite all the hardship they have been through, will still give you a smile and do their best to show you a good time. The pub is now open to the public from 10am in the morning. Limited lunch options are available from 12pm to 3pm today and tomorrow (Thursday 16 January). As of Friday 17 January we will resume business as per normal. Open 10am, lunch 7 days from 12pm to 3pm and dinner 3 nights a week (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) from 6pm to 8pm. Please note the beer garden will remain shut until further notice as we are currently using it to keep some of our locals’ displaced pets. As to the coffee shop, we will reopen it on Friday 24 January. Normal hours will apply (Friday and Monday from 6am to 11am and Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 11am). With respect to accommodation, we are not in a position to offer any accommodation to travellers at this stage as we are using the cabins for some of our locals who lost their homes. To all of you who have sent good thoughts, donations, support of whatever type, again thank you. And to all the firefighters who have been with us for the last 4 weeks we cannot thank you enough. To finish on a good note we will have live music at the pub on Sunday 26 January, 2pm start. Come and celebrate Australia Day with us. The kitchen will be operating as per normal. On Monday 27 January, the kitchen will be closed and we will have our traditional long weekend spit. Meat and gravy rolls available from 12pm until sold out. Best and a happy new year to all Phil & Sarah
04.01.2022 Hi all New rules are coming in almost daily and we are still trying our very best to figure out how we will implement the new requirements at the pub. For now we have made the decision of no longer taking bookings as we may not be in a position to honour them. ... Also we just wanted to let you know that we have had to remove a fair number of chairs inside the pub in order to limit the number of people being able to sit inside at once. We know the new rules are currently referring to a maximum of 100 people inside a room but this is actually not an accurate indication for our venue because the floor space is small, so the restriction is actually more cumbersome in order to respect the social distancing requirements. Sitting outside remains available in the beer garden and at the front of the pub. We just feel we ought to let you know that at this stage our operations are simply uncertain and, though we will use our very best endeavours to cater for all in a safe environment, there may be times where we may not be able to. It is a very difficult position to be in and we would just like to please ask once again for your patience and understanding as we figure it all out. We are forever so grateful so many of you have been coming to support us and our community in the aftermath of the recent bushfires. Business picked up since the roads reopened which has been wonderful. By all means please keep stopping by, but remember things might be a little different and if the pub gets too busy we may not be in a position to let everyone in at the same time. Further changes are yet to be implemented and hopefully we will know more tomorrow and in the coming weeks. We will obviously keep you updated but in the meantime let’s continue being kind to each other and let the beautiful Australian spirit that so strongly shone through the recent bushfires continue to shine through these challenging times. Phil & Sarah
03.01.2022 COFFEE SHOP & PUB CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE Hi all As you most probably know it was announced last night that all pubs shall close today midday for an unknown period of time, possibly up to 6 months, maybe more. ... This is devastating news for all involved, our staff, our community, our customers, our 4 year old who will no longer be able to ‘kidnap’ customers’ children to play with them, and ourselves. As a result, and to allow ourselves time to work out new ways of operating safely and within legal requirements, both the pub and the coffee shop will be closed from today until further notice. We are awaiting further official advice as to what is allowed and how we will continue to provide our locals with essential services and hopefully travelling customers with take aways but in the meantime we just need to take a big breath and refocus. We trust you all understand our decision and we apologise for the inconvenience caused. We also remind travellers that there are public toilets available at the sports ground, opposite the community hall. Thank you Phil & Sarah
01.01.2022 Chalkie White has taken over our FB page and will be taking over the pub tonight at 8pm, what should we do?
