13.01.2022 After a child led interest this morning we decided spontaneously to create a ferry to transport dolls and toys. The children showed such great curiosity to this activity that we have decided to create a different mode of transport each day. and combine it with construction time. We will extend on this with some research on google. The children used brainstorming ideas to create their ferries and even added the boat stack. When asked what other modes of transport they thought ...there was, they all came up with boat, plane, train, I suggested a car as a mode of transport and Miss H replied.."no thats just mummys car i think my dads car is a mode of transport". Stay tuned for tomorrows creations. See more

08.01.2022 Today we practised some spatial concepts of over, under, through etc. We combined this with a you tube clip "We are going on a lion hunt" We made our binoculars as well this morning to use for our song. The children showed a great curiosity to these basic concepts and have been playing over and under all afternoon. Tomorrow we will extend this further into our outdoor free play and obstable course.... Spatial concepts (a category of basic concepts) define the relationship between us and objects, as well as the relationships of objects to each other. As our language begins to develop, early spatial concepts such as in front of, behind, top, bottom, over, under, last, between, farthest, backward, in, on, etc., help us understand directions more precisely, ask detailed questions, and express our ideas to others. For preschoolers and young students, an awareness or understanding of spatial concepts and relationships usually predicts later success in math, reading, and following directions.

03.01.2022 Water Play gives many opportunities to develop fine and gross motor skills across age ranges. Children will increase their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination through actions like pouring, squirting, scrubbing, stirring and squeezing. Floating and sinking is a fun science concept for children to explore. It invites them to play, experiment and explore how and why different objects float and sink when placed into water. We will be doing this activity in many different ways through the week. It will be interesting to see what else we can think up to extend on this throughout the week

02.01.2022 Nessys Nest will have an available Mon to Fri spot after the 20th of September. Please P.M for details.
