14.01.2022 Here we are again... in short term lock down. We are practising gratitude for the quick government response supporting our broader community. Stay home, unless venturing out for one of five reasons: 1. Food and supplies... 2. Authorised work 3. Care and caregiving 4. Exercise for up to 2 hours with one other person 5. Getting vaccinated Current restriction guidelines by our community leaders include: 1. Maintain 1.5m distance while accessing community 2. Shopping for necessities only, wear a mask 3. Fitness out of home for 2 hours maximum, wear a mask 4. School- many are having a curriculum day Friday 28/5. Watch for updates from your child's school regarding attendance limitations What does this mean for NEST Autism & Disability Services? 1. Support Coordination will still be provided via telehealth where possible. Face-to-face support will be assessed on case by case basis. 2. Individual Support Services will go ahead as previously scheduled. Support Workers will wear a mask during shifts. Feeling unwell? Please notify our team if you are feeling unwell prior to scheduled sessions. Reminder- Prepare for wellness during lock down. Contact your known supports should you begin to feel overwhelmed OR link to new supports like Carer Gateway or referrals through your GP. Check out this reminder regarding activities to promote self-care during COVID-times: https://au.reachout.com/.../10-ways-to-take-care-of... Feeling overwhelmed as a carer? 13.01.2022 Happy Education Week! This year's theme is 'Building Connections' celebrating the connections between schools and local communities and strengthening bonds with families and carers. Building Connections’ recognises that when schools, families, and community groups come together to support learning, it provides a richer and more diverse learning experience for students.... Let’s work together to empower students to receive an education that works best for the individual. #empower #support

08.01.2022 Happy Volunteer Week! We would like to dedicate this post to Kay Cornell. Kay dedicates her time to our Geelong Carers Connect group each week to support Carers and is one of the most giving people we have ever met. She has been on kinder and school committees and joined Geelong Carers connect admin team to assist in supporting families in need. She reaches out to support group members that are struggling and provides meals in times of need. Kay is amazing! #support
