10.01.2022 Sensory Activities Sensory play is a great way to stimulate a child’s 5 senses; touch, taste, sight, sound and smell. Through sensory play, children gain a deeper understanding of the world around them. Sensory Play offers many benefits which include: 1. Supporting language development, cognitive growth, motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction 2. Assisting in Calming anxious or frustrated children... 3. Teaches children sensory attributes - for instance, wet/dry, dark/light, rough/smooth 4. Enhances memory functioning Sensory Play is displayed through Learning Outcome 4:Children are Confident and Involved Learners of The Early Years Learning Framework: This is shown through the elements: 4.1 Develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity. 4.2 Develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesizing, researching and investigating 4.3 Transfer and adapt what they learned from one context to another Here is a picture set up for our Pelican Class (3-4 years) by our educator Maddie for the children to explore. As you can see it is visually inviting with a rainbow of colours. They had the choice to explore the sand with either their hands or by using a paint brush.

06.01.2022 For those who live or work with little ones, here are some wonderful free resources developed by Qld Health to help them deal with our current bushfires as well... as other natural threats, such as droughts, floods and cyclones. There are wonderful stories, games and tip sheets, all freely accessible via the link below. Please feel free to share these with anyone who might be helped by these at the moment. https://www.childrens.health.qld.gov.au/natural-disaster-/ (Having flown home from Perth today, it was striking to see how much of our beautiful country is blanketed in thick smoke at the moment. Thinking of all those affected by these bushfires and hoping you all stay safe xx)

02.01.2022 We are excited to be taking part in the 2019 Woolworths Earn & Learn program. During the previous campaign, we were able to purchase some great resources with the points we earned. From now until June 25th 2019, you can collect stickers at Woolworths that go towards Earn & Learn points.... We have an earn and learn collection point in our foyer. Any support would be appreciated for some great new resources!
