25.01.2022 Ive been going through my files updating a few admin items and thought Id share some of my 3D renders that have been completed!

25.01.2022 Thrilled to be working with this wonderful client for a 3rd time!

25.01.2022 Isnt she stunning? The ceiling, the cornice, the windows.....not so much the pendant. That one is being replaced and new paint colours to highlight the original features in this home.

25.01.2022 Ive written some tips on creating a beautiful neutral nursery for Boori - Australia. Follow the link below to read!

24.01.2022 Time for a walk down memory lane.

23.01.2022 There has to be right? How are things going for you? Genuinely. Lets chat. For me? I was born for this. Absolute introvert. Ive realised that my world really hasnt changed a huge amount. I miss (hugely) my office but on the other hand, we rarely go out for tea or to the movies, Im not a go for a wander shopper (online has always been my preferred method), it takes months between catch up with friends, Id rather sit at home and read a book than be out. I am missing ...the boys being with their friends (not for my sake, but for theirs). Weve filled our home with relaxing, activities the kids enjoy, doing lots of things but at the same time, nothing much. My husband has worked from home for 2 weeks but is now back out inspecting crops, so it was lovely having him home for bath and tea time during that time. As we go into Easter and start thinking about the logistics that are coming with term 2 at school, I know its not going to be an easy transition. So tell me, how are YOU doing? @thepeachyrebel See more

23.01.2022 Ive been rocking in the corner over the last week and a bit . Ive had major issues with my computer and emails and havent been able to check or respond my emails. Ive just had a call about my computer and it will need a big update overnight which will hopefully fix the issue. Today, Ive been able to see what emails are coming in but unable to respond.... Apologies to everyone waiting on an email. Needless to say wine consumption has been elevated and is just the cherry on top over the last 11 weeks of self isolation .

23.01.2022 The @popupdesks looked so good before we painted Hughs room.....and now it looks AMAZING with the wall colour contrast. Hugh has loved being able to work from his desk over the last 6 weeks of remote learning. Its certainly earned its place as the hardest working piece of furniture in our house lately!

22.01.2022 Soon. Soon, Ill be staring out those beautiful studio window again (I hope). School heads back on the 9th of June but with restrictions still being that if you can work from home you should, Im not sure when it will be back to normal . Until then, Ill keep dreaming that Im sitting in my office instead of a cramped corner of our master bedroom. @leahladson

22.01.2022 Last one I promise . I know I thanked my clients in this mornings post but now its time to thank my suppliers. Ive seen many changes in the industry over the years: businesses have come and gone, the Australian produced market has thrived (with beautiful products), theres brands that Ive worked with since the early years of my business.... So thank you to all of you who Ive worked with and hope to work with. Heres to another 10! Ive tagged a few of the OGs (both suppliers and fellow designer friends) of the industry in my photo

22.01.2022 Things that are fabulous: - These sparkly shoes (obviously). - The fact the children are all back at school. - I achieved more work today than I did the entire 11 weeks of self isolation. - I am now able to start accepting new clients again!... Im so excited to be able to flex my creative muscle again. If you would like to work together to create a beautiful space, email [email protected] to receive a design services information kit.

22.01.2022 If youve seen my office on Instagram before, youll know I have a pretty fab view out my window.....and the fact that Ive been tagged in this multiple times means.....challenge accepted! Coming soon. www.instagram.com/nestdesignstudio

21.01.2022 My client sent me this video today. We are sooooo close to having downstairs completed! While there’s a new sofa, coffee table, side table, stone top for the cabinetry to come in this part of the house, it’s looking so amazing already! Next we tackle upstairs and wait until you see our plans for the Master Bedroom!

20.01.2022 Im so excited to be starting work on this beautiful, heritage home in Bendigo shortly. It has so many gorgeous, original features that Ill make sure to highlight (like this stunning marble fireplace).

20.01.2022 It’s true! You don’t need a huge project to engage a designer. Many designers offer one off appointments (not all, but many) and you can use that appointment however you want! Nest offers a ‘designer by your side’ style package which is $350 for up to 2 hours. Want to work out what paint colours for your house? Want to do a brain dump and get a designers thoughts? Have so many ideas going around your head, you just need to narrow them down with a professional? Nest can help with all of that! In fact, I love doing these quick consultations! Get in touch to have a design services guide emailed to you to find out how we can work together!

20.01.2022 It’s really hard creating new content to share with you at the moment. I’ve got 2 nurseries and a couple of family living spaces that I finished late last year that need photographing. I was about to organise the photographers when Covid hit and just a few weeks ago thought it might be time yet again. Given the current outbreak happening in Melbourne, it’s imperative that I out my clients safety first so have yet again have hit the pause button. So for now, Instagram land and new photographed projects are in limbo. I’ll keep sharing new content when I can.....in this case, it’s this little snippet of my eldest sons room (which I need to hang art, install sconces and have photographed as well!).

20.01.2022 Someone was very excited to set up his @popupdesks today (and even wanted to be included in the photos)! Super easy to put together and its given us the kick start we needed to update Hugh desperately needed room upgrade (its been 5-6 years since weve done anything in his room as you may have seen in stories over the weekend). Desk kindly gifted.

19.01.2022 Mixing old with new in Hughs room makeover. I *think* Ive ordered everything now, just waiting on everything to arrive and can then share this room with you. Im so glad I picked this colour, its the perfect blend of what he wanted (royal blue) and I wanted (navy).

17.01.2022 I’d just like to give a shout-out to our employee of the month. Congratulations Belinda. After working in your business for 11 years, you’ve finally started to create a Standard of Procedures manual (and getting it all out of your head which will mean you’ll be able to get help with the business) and requesting reviews from past clients. It took you some time, but well done babe. Well done . PS - if you are an old client and would like to leave a lovely review, please let me know and I can send you a link!

16.01.2022 Hands up who thinks we maybe have a week left before the schools are shut for extended holidays (pre-holidays) because of the big C word? Are you starting to think of activities to keep the kids busy? Yep, me too! Ive got one for you! Im able to fit 1 (maybe 2) room designs in the next 1-2 weeks. The catch is its only for e-design and only for a childs space.... Just think, we get the design done and then you have a few weeks to order everything (because you know anything made OS is going to be a get it now or who knows when it might come back into stock item). It keeps you sane and your little one occupied and then they will spend the following weeks loving their space and not whinging so much! Win/win! Get in touch to receive a design services info kit. *in all seriousness, making our home cozy for the coming period of change has become a priority for me....whats your thought processes around the big C?

15.01.2022 And that my friends is called the END of mum school!!!!!! Its been a loooooonnnng 8 weeks of remote learning (a total of 11 weeks self isolating) and I can say with hand on heart......I never want them enrolled in mum school again. Wine consumption has greatly increased, patience is thin, my brain has been in a thick fog and the house has never been messier. Next week, I plan on indulging in reading, binge watching, puzzles, singing loudly without anyone complaining while the boys all head back to school and husbands returns to a semi normal routine. Mic drop She out.

14.01.2022 Its not all kids rooms around here! Yesterday I presented a concept design for a clients grand old dame home (understatement - this home has stunning original features of lead light windows, marble fireplaces, detailed ceilings and cornices to name a few). We are starting with the Kitchen and dining space (complete with green shaker style cabinetry, brass fixtures, farmhouse style sink and herringbone floor)....next up is the Bathroom.... Cant wait to help bring this heritage home to life.

13.01.2022 This little fire cracker heads back to school tomorrow. I was thinking earlier about his fellow preppies /foundation (whatever they call it in your state) .....they sure havent had an easy introduction into school life! We are at the end of May and Leo still hasnt had a full week of school education. Hes excited to go back but I know there will be some anxiousness return (that we had just started over coming at drop off). Ive also been thinking about new school famili...es. I know by this stage with my eldest starting school, I had established some great friendships with other parents, but for Leos year I hadnt even gotten a chance to find out some parents names (or which kid goes with which parent)! I know it will be something Ill make an effort to do once we are allowed back inside the school gates. How are you feeling about this step back into normality? Is your little one excited or nervous? 10.01.2022 I love a bit of DIY. This basket was a bargain $7 find and I added some fun Pom poms to create something more personalised . Are you a DIY’er or do you leave it to the professionals?

10.01.2022 Shes a sad old, empty building at the moment. Theres normally so many of us coming and going, we dont usually lock the front gate....but I just had to pop by to pick up my printer and it was a bit sad to see. #fuckyoucorona (sorry for the language but it feels appropriate).

09.01.2022 Feeling very lucky to work with a number of heritage homes lately. I’m nuts about all the gorgeous ceilings!

09.01.2022 Just before lockdown, this gorgeous space was installed.....counting down the days until I can get it professionally photographed .

08.01.2022 Want to know how accurate your design could look before you go ahead and purchase the products? Swipe across to see!!! What a brilliant job my client has done putting this room together.

08.01.2022 Making a list and checkin got twice! Preparation is underway for next weeks install.

07.01.2022 The office shelf has had a bit of a perk up with a new pot and plant from @livinggiftsbendigo . Shes looking pretty

07.01.2022 Can you tell someones a little obsessed with terrazzo at the moment? Some beautiful samples have arrived on my desk for a project Im working on at the moment. Ohhhh now to decide which one because I love them all!

06.01.2022 Lauren Starr Photographic Art made the office look even better by getting rid of the traffic lights and power poles!

06.01.2022 Here, let me distract you with a pretty picture! You know I can work with anyone around Australia right? This client is based in Tasmania. Weve never met, never spoken on the phone yet I can provide them with a damn awesome design (and top notch render of how their design will look!). Maybe I was super smart starting my online design services 10 years ago .

05.01.2022 Oh stop it. This is making me miss my mummy Wednesdays with my littlest man. How comfy does he look on his @littleconnoisseur floor pillow (who by the way have 30% off at the moment!).

05.01.2022 Its really hard to boomerang with balloons!

05.01.2022 Hygge has never felt like more an appropriate word. Over the last 10 years, Ive finessed the online/e-design process and its a great way of creating hygge in your own home (without going anywhere!). My services are geared around working remotely with clients and over the years, Ive developed some great options for different budgets to work with me.... In light of current events, Ill be offering a one hour virtual consult. This will take place via FaceTime or zoom and we can chat about any pain points you might have in your home at the moment and how to achieve a calm and serene space for your family. At $150 its a great step to take if you just need a tiny bit of help. To make a booking or enquire about how we can work together, please send an email to [email protected] @leahladson

05.01.2022 I presented a gorgeous bathroom concept for a local client this week. Lots of warmth, textures and pattern to create a classic, family friendly room.

04.01.2022 It’s time to add more help for Nest and I’m looking for a VA.

03.01.2022 Im basically a handyman now. Installed a shelf perfectly level.

03.01.2022 10 years ago, a girl was on her computer and her 8 month old baby was having a nap and she decided to register a business name. She had been working as an interior designer for the past 10 years but had resigned from her job not knowing how the future would be (juggling work and a baby). At a mothers group meeting, she was approached by the editor of the magazine Little One Baby (who also had a baby 3 weeks younger than her own). Whats your nursery like? I bet its wonder...ful because your an interior designer. Id love to include it in my magazine. Her answer.....hmmmm actually its a white box at the moment (having moved into a new build 3 weeks before her baby was born). That conversation was enough to kick her into gear to create a special nursery for her eldest son. Its out of fashion now, but back then it was the height of baby fashion. And it was the start of something special. Hughs nursery (if you didnt realise by now, That girl, is me) was just the start of things to come. Deciding to specialise in childrens spaces was a monumental decision and remember it was pre Instagram, pre Pinterest, pre kids rooms are cool. I took a chance that my love of creating a special room for children, would grow into what it is today. Today, Nest celebrates 10 years in business. An occasion I am taking the opportunity to celebrate. How many of you have worked in the same job for 10 years? How many women led small businesses have stuck around that long? Im so grateful that the hundreds of clients Ive worked with over the years have given me the opportunity to create a beautiful space. That Ive been able to grow my business as Ive had 3 little boys by my side that have grown up in the business. Im also grateful that what started off as childrens rooms has grown into creating homes for the entire families now! So my biggest thank you for 10 years of this beautiful business. Im feeling a whole lot proud today!

01.01.2022 Behind the scenes.
