20.01.2022 SCAM WARNING With tax time over, be on high alert for phone calls demanding the payment of fake tax debts. Stay vigilant and warn your friends and family so... they don’t get tricked. Be suspicious if someone contacts you demanding payment. Remember, we would never: Request the payment of a tax debt via prepaid gift cards (eg iTunes or Google Play) Ask for direct credit to be paid into a personal bank account or via an ATM Demand immediate payment, use aggressive behaviour, or threaten you with arrest or deportation. These are typical scammer tactics! If you’re unsure about a call you receive, hang up immediately. Phone our scam hotline on 1800008540 to check if the call was legitimate or report the scam. 10.01.2022 Very, very important. We always recommend at least two methods and one of those being offsite.

05.01.2022 SCAM ALERT - Scammers are using the credentials of a small photography business to send out a phishing email. The email asks you to click a link to view a notic...e from the AFP about a legal violation. This email is a scam. Don’t click on any links or attachments. Summons or court attendance notices are always served in person and the AFP never issues them via email. If you have broken the law and need to appear in court, we usually break that news to you face-to-face. Sometimes we even give you a lift to court This type of email scam tries to trick you into giving away your personal details or clicking on a link that will download malicious software onto your device. If you receive an email like this, delete it straight away. Don’t think twice about it or any follow-up emails.
