20.01.2022 Corrie Channel Dredging and Beach Nourishment Ready to Start http://www.neumanncontractors.com.au//corrie-channel-dredg The Corrie Channel is situated at the confluence between the Lower Myall River and Port Stephens Estuary on the north-western side of Corrie Island. The required dredge site itself is located approximately 2km from the town of Tea Gardens and approximately 4km from Hawks Nest.... The Corrie Channel is the designated (NSW Maritime) navigation channel/ route between Port Stephens and the Myall River and links Nelson Bay and the Port of Tea Gardens. The Corrie Channel also provides access to the Myall Lakes which during peak periods have a high level of recreational boating activity, particularly of Cruiser-type vessels. A bathymetric survey carried out in 2015 indicated that the channel has in-filled some 18,700m3 since the previous 2010 dredging campaign. Sand shoaling within the channel has occurred to such an extent that it is now restricting access for larger vessels. Dredging of the channel is thus urgently required to maintain navigation and ensure public safety and access to Port Stephens/ Tea Gardens. Neumann Contractors have been engaged by the Great Lakes Council to undertake the much needed dredging works. The Corrie Channel Dredging Project includes: Dredging of up to 20,000m3 of marine sand. Dredging will create a channel to a depth of -3.5m AHD and which is 20m wide and over 300m in length. The dredge spoil will be pumped, with the aid of two floating booster pumps, via a temporary pipeline to a maximum distance of 3.0 kilometres to an eroding section of shoreline west of Barnes Rock at Winda Woppa where it will be used for shoreline renourishment. The Cutter Suction Dredge, Nu Discovery will be used for this project. The Nu Discovery is a 200mm cutter suction dredge from the Nu Explorer series of dredges. The Nu Explorer series of dredges have been designed and constructed by Neumann Contractors to specifically suit the typical dredging conditions encountered in projects like the Corrie Channel Dredging project. There are three dredges in the Nu Explorer series that currently complement our fleet (total of 9 Cutter Suction Dredges): Nu Explorer (original dredge in the Nu Explorer Series) has been working in the OTML Mine in PNG for the last two years, Nu Discovery has recently completed works in the Iluka Boat Harbour and Entrance Channel Dredging project, Nu Investigator, is the latest in the fleet and has just completed initial trials and testing at Neumann Contractors, Corridor Sands plant at Woongoolba. Dredge 12, Nu Discovery is a 227kW (305hp) 200mm three wire cutter suction dredge. The dredge is capable of dredging up to 120m3 per hour (in optimal conditions), dredge to a maximum depth of 6.5 metres, and pump the material up to 1,000m in distance. http://www.neumanncontractors.com.au/

19.01.2022 Tallebudgera Dredging Ready to Start The annual dredging program for Tallebudgera Creek is about to commence. The cutter suction dredge, the Nu Enterprise has been seatowed from the Broadwater and will start dredging soon. This year an estimated 20,000m3 of clean sand will be dredged from Tallebudgera Creek and pumped up to 1.8 kms onto the beach at Palm Beach for much welcome beach nourishment.... Neumann Contractors have undertaken the dredging works in Tallebudgera Creek for many years now, and the works are an integral part of the Gold Coast City Council's program to maintain and replenish the sand on Gold Coast beaches. Each year around 20-40,000 m3 of clean sand and dredged from the Tallebudgera Creek to replenish the sand on Burleigh Beach. The sand is pumped overland and released in the southern end of Burleigh Beach, near the Burleigh Beach Pavilion and spread up to 350m northwards. The Nu Enterprise, a 250mm Cutter Suction Dredge, a land based booster pump and up to 1.8km of pipeline were used to complete the works. Each year sand naturally travels northward along our coastline. Sand travelling across the entrance to Tallebudgera Creek can become trapped and cause infilling of the mouth of the creek. The trapped sand also contributes to the erosion on Burleigh Beach, which is just north of Tallebudgera Creek. The Gold Coast City Council are committed to keeping Tallebudgera Creek in the best possible condition and in doing so can also help one of the Gold Coast greatest assets, Burleigh Beach. Without the annual beach nourishment program the extreme erosion problem could render the beach a hazard. The dredging at Tallebudgera Creek and beach nourishment on Palm Beach will be finished prior to the September School Holidays.

19.01.2022 Broadwater Parklands - Dredging and Reclamation works complete Broadwater Parklands Stage 3 was officially opened to the public in February 2016. Stage 3 continues the master plan vision for Broadwater Parklands, with the addition of 3.5 hectares of land to the north of the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre at Southport. Neumann Contractors were engaged by the Gold Coast City Council to complete the dredging and reclamation works for the Broadwater Parklands Stage 3. The dredging works involved the maintenance dredging of approximately 100,000m3 from the Labrador Channel, Ray Newlyn Channel, Howards Access Channel, Loders Creek and basin area. The dredging operation involved the use of the cutter suction dredges, Nu-Compact and Nu-Enterprise. The reclamation works involves the placement of approximately 100,000m3 of sand to reclaim almost 3ha of land to be used in the Broadwater Parklands Stage 3 area. http://www.neumanncontractors.com.au/

18.01.2022 Gold Coast Dredging Starts Soon South Channel and South Wavebreak Island Channel Dredging to commence soon! Neumann Contractors have been awarded the dredging contract for South Channel and South Wavebreak Island Channel Dredging 2016 project, on the Gold Coast, Queensland.... The works involve the dredging the nominated shallow areas of the primary South Navigation Channel and the secondary South Wavebreak Island Channel. There is a total of 42,400m3 to be removed from the channels. There is 32,000m3 to be dredged from the South Channel in between the Seaway and Wavebreak Island. 8,700m3 from the South Wavebreak Island Channel and a further 1,700m3 from the South Channel adjacent to the Spit Finger. he sand will be used to re-nourish eroded areas of beach on Wavebreak Island and also on the Spit Finger. Any surplus sand will pumped to Main Beach, just south of the sand pumping jetty. The Cutter Suction Dredge Nu Endeavour has been sea-towed from Maroochydore to the Gold Coast. Mobilisation to site will commence next week and dredging is set to start late April. Dredging works are expected to take 9 weeks. http://www.neumanncontractors.com.au/

11.01.2022 Cabbage Tree Point Dredging Kicks Off Cabbage Tree Point Dredging and Beach Nourishment 2016 http://www.neumanncontractors.com.au//cabbage-tree-point-d Dredging has commenced in the Main Channel North at Cabbage Tree Point. Approximately 15,700m3 of material will be dredged from the channel to a designed depth of -2.7m LAT. The sand will be placed on the foreshore at Cabbage Tree Point, adjacent to the channel.... The Cabbage Tree Point dredge site is located on the Main Channel North, north of Jacobs Well, and south of the Tabby Tabby Channel confluence, adjacent to the Cabbage Tree Point boat ramp. Immediately adjacent to the dredge area, land is developed for residential uses, and many of the lots with water frontage have private jetties extending into deeper waters to allow low tide use. The dredge area begins approximately 15 m north of the Cabbage Tree public boat ramp, extending southwards for approximately 500m. The works are required to maintain safe navigable depth within the Main Channel North, which has been impacted by significant sand deposition and shoaling. This channel forms the primary movement channel for vessels travelling between the northern and southern areas of Moreton Bay, and it is therefore important to maintain navigable depths under all tidal conditions. Due to build-up of sand, water depths within the defined navigation channel at low tide are reduced to under one metre in some areas. Beach nourishment for recreational amenity is the selected dredge material management option to improve the amenity of the foreshore and provide additional protection to land which has been subject to steady erosion. The Cutter Suction Dredge,Nu Discovery will be used for this project. The Nu Discovery is a 200mm cutter suction dredge from the Nu Explorer series of dredges. The Nu Explorer series of dredges have been designed and constructed by Neumann Contractors to specifically suit the typical dredging conditions encountered in projects like the Cabbage Tree Point Dredging Project.
