23.01.2022 One of our 2021 fundraising goals is to raise $100k to fund a research project which was highly recommended by our Scientific Advisory Board. The research project looks at the role of mutations on chromosome 17 as 80% of neuroblastoma patients have this mutation. Research shows that these mutations may be linked to the increase of the MYNC gene which often makes neuroblastoma particularly hard to treat. Read more here about Dr Zsuzsanna Nagi and her work here: http://ow.ly/N...ikS50EItfn We are thrilled to say thanks to Golf2Cure, the members of Trek2Cure, our kind donators and Facebook fundraisers we have already reached $50k. If you would like to help us reach our goal of $100k, there are many ways you help and be involved: Run for us! Join our Run2Cure event this September Shop from our charity shop. 100% of each sale goes straight back to our charity. Adventure with us! 21.01.2022 We are delighted to let you know that Neuroblastoma Australia has been awarded a $150,000 grant (to be paid over three years) for research into childhood cancer by the Coopers Brewery Foundation’s Sustainable Giving Program. Survival rates for aggressive neuroblastoma are around 50% and more research is desperately needed to find better and safer treatments for the young children it affects. Clinical trials have demonstrated that current treatments can be made more effective ...using new combinations of drugs, but these combinations require further scientific evidence to be implemented. This grant means we will be able to fund promising pre-clinical research into more effective treatment options for this aggressive childhood cancer. Thank you to the Coopers Brewery Foundation for supporting our search for a cure. 19.01.2022 If you're dining out in Sydney during October - look out for the 'Our Local Matters' jars at Grill'd Crows Nest. This month Neuroblastoma Australia is one of three local charities that will be supported. With every burger ordered, a Local Matters token is handed over for guests to drop into the jar of their choice.... At the end of the month $500 is split between the groups ($300 for 1st, $100 for 2nd and 3rd). 2020 has been a tough year for many community groups and this is a great initiative to lend some support. If you dine, please vote for us! #Neuroblastoma #NeuroblastomaAustralia

18.01.2022 It’s disheartening to read that the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide is struggling to provide enough dedicated beds and specialist nurses for families affected by childhood cancer. We hope the group letter signed by 33 SA families will highlight the urgent need to the Government to invest more funds into providing the necessary support for families. 15.01.2022 I was excited to be part of the press conference about this new paediatric clinical trial which will open this year ! The first trial will test CBL0137 and then hopefully a combination trial with pabinostat will take place . The great news is that CBL0137 has shown promising results, has low toxicity and also triggers an immune response. We are hoping by combining it with pabinostat that it will become even more effective. Neuroblastoma Australia has been supporting the pre-clinical work behind this clinical trial since 2014, providing over $500k thanks to our supporters. It’s great to see it now move into phase 1 trial and shows how important it is to support the best pre-clinical research. Lucy
