18.01.2022 Our OTs are now permitted to assess patients for disability parking permits. Changes are occurring to disability parking permit requirements in Victoria with the introduction of the Accessible Parking Permit (APP) Scheme and a new online administration system. Under the new APP Scheme, occupational therapists will be able to assess clients for Accessible Parking Permits.... The APP Scheme provides people with significant mobility impairments parking concessions to improve access to facilities and services throughout the state. Cindy works at the Thomastown clinic and can see clients in their homes and communities across the Northern and Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Cindy comes to us from community care, where she worked with people of all ages and diagnoses. Cindy's research interest lies in active support to increase independence and involvement in cooking and healthy eating in people with disability. She also loves to whip out the measuring tape to help people get the right home modifications and wheelchairs. 10.01.2022 Today NeuroRehab is shining a light on Motor Neurone Disease (MND). It is National Motor Neurone Disease Week in Australia (2-8 May 2021). Did you know? - MND is a progressive and terminal neurological disease.... - MND often impacts people's ability to use their arms, legs, eat, drink, and breathe. -There are currently more than 2,000 people living with MND in Australia and two people being diagnosed each day in Australia. -The average life expectancy for people living with MND is 2.5 years. There is currently no known cure or treatment for MND. However, our therapy team often work with people living with MND to improve their quality of their life and comfort.
