24.01.2022 7 days and 14 hours. Or 7 hours if you are really fast. You'd have to be Fit for this Trip

24.01.2022 It's Kokoda season. Been a while since we've done a mountain. Who fancies a mountain on Friday morning?

18.01.2022 Thinking about doing something special? Joanne Clark and Danielle Adair are. Looks like they met someone else who enjoys hill walking too. Glad for you to join us Bindy Irwin. Jo and Dani, who work at SAFE Asbestos Management based in Maleny, are taking part in the Mates in Construction Kokoda Challenge. This is a joint venture to raise suicide prevention awareness within the construction industry. Construction workers are 6 times more likely to die through suicide than a workplace accident and 2 1/2 times more likely to suicide than any other young men their age.

17.01.2022 Last year, as part of National Seniors week, with the support of COTA, Council Of The Aged, Suncare entered a team of 35, many over 65, in the 7 Sunshine Coast ...Marathon and Community Run Festival’s Queensland Governments Family Dash 2km event. Noel Dennett, then 82, took part. A former Naval Aviator and airline pilot for Qantas and Singapore Airlines, Noel believes his physical fitness is what has kept him as able as he is today. Part of the requirement to fly meant he had to pass certain physical tests, requiring regular training which he continues today. Fitness is not something you should leave till you are 70 but you would probably benefit anyway. You should start sooner. People must realise it doesn’t just keep you fitter, but it also improves your appearance and mind. Noel regularly jogs 3km on his own so enjoyed being able to do the 2km event with others and be part of the festival. Anyone thinking of doing it just try it. It’s not a race, but just about taking part. Life is our only competition because what we are all trying to do is beat the onset of time everyday This year’s theme for Queensland Seniors week is ‘A Queensland for All Ages’. Thanks to support from Atlas Multisports, COTA and the Sunshine Coast Council’s grants program, Suncare are again able to provide 90 heavily subsidised entries into the 2km event (only 40 left) and 10 places for the 5km event (9 now Noel has taken one. Be quick!). For the subsidised entry fee of $10 for the 2km, and $25 for the 5km, each participant will receive the following: Entry to the QLD Government 2km Dash valued at $30 or Entry into the Cricks 5km valued at $50 Commemorative event T-Shirt valued at $19.80 Transport to and from event (from predesignated pick up point) valued at $10 A support team and tent for the event Snack bag with water and energy bar $5 Voucher for Alex Surf Club (TBC) $10 Support to complete the event as and if required (To be assessed case by case) Participants need to be over the age of 50 or receiving aged care services. Contact Rob Cross on 0468 560563 0r [email protected] for details. Closing dates for joining this team entry is Wednesday 15th August.

16.01.2022 It's official - Mt Tibrogargan is closed. The bush fire has made trees and rocks unstable so it's a no go like Mt Beerwah. But where there is a will....

13.01.2022 Yay!!! The Mountain is again open. Still risky so need to tread safe but at least you won't risk fines.

11.01.2022 A journey of a 1000 miles starts with one step. Join Suncare in celebrating 'A Queensland for All Ages' on the Sunshine Coast Marathon Festival QLD Government 2km Family Dash - Jog or Walk, Just Do It!
