18.01.2022 Ken Matheson who deals with Special Projects, took this photo when he was an Accountant for British Phosphate Commission at Christmas Island. It is now an infamous detention centre for refugees. I copped a lot of stirring in my job as Accountant counting bird shit (Guano!), Phosphate dust created by bulk pouring phosphate rock at 3000 tph. I went on board ships to give customs clearance and used to shower three times a day because of dust. 13.01.2022 Lucky to fit in 10 days in Bali before lockdown. Close call. Here is another trip taken by one of our staff members Ken Matheson, staying at Bali before Australian lockdown happened.... The Mission has been providing welfare services to seafarers for more than 150 years. Their role is as important today as it was in the days of sailing ships.
