17.01.2022 Our thoughts and prayers are with all the firefighter’s family, friends and fellow brigade members affected by this devastating event. RFS Statement Published Date: 20 Dec 2019... The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) confirms that two NSW RFS volunteer firefighters have died tonight near Buxton, in south western Sydney. The deaths occurred following a vehicle rollover earlier this evening during firefighting operations. It is believed the vehicle, while travelling in convey, hit a tree before rolling off the road. Another three firefighters have received injuries as a result of the accident. The Service’s thoughts are with all the firefighter’s family, friends and fellow brigade members. This is an absolutely devastating event in what has already been an incredibly difficult day and fire season.

13.01.2022 Neville brigade received a fire call this afternoon to a property on the Neville Road, We are proud to say we had brigade members & our 2 trucks respond in a very fast time!! And we were really thrilled to find that it was a false alarm due to all the smoke coming in with the wind change! Thank you to all brigade members that responded, some of the people that popped up out of the woodworks I haven’t seen for ages! That’s what makes small communities great we are all there in a flash to help when we need to be!! Thank you to all the community members for keeping a watchful eye out for smoke and fires it’s best to call 000 if your concerned. #bettersafethansorry #greatlittlecommunitywehave #call000toreportfires

12.01.2022 Great turn out at training yesterday thank you all for coming!! Our next training will be on Tuesday 21st of Jan, 6:30pm we will be doing a mock fire practice, getting to use the hoses and pumps on the trucks, followed by a test to see who was listening yesterday - just joking team! No test, but let’s all hope Hayley/me gets the hose reel winder on the move a bit faster this time for everyone’s sake Just looking for some feed back ? Would we like a sausage sandwich, and a... cold drink and little get together at the end of training’s? Doesn’t matter if you only want to stay for 10 mins or half hour? If so every training or every second training? I’m happy to go and cook early so it would be ready when training is finished if we are keen? I’m currently looking at funding for community/brigade get togethers? And personally feel it would be great to have a little get together regularly now we have no pub or shop in the town as a meeting place? Any ideas or feedback are welcomed so please message us or comment thanks in advance! See more

07.01.2022 PREPARE YOURSELF AND FAMILY Preparation isn't just about cleaning up around the house and having a bush fire survival plan. It's also about making sure you consider your physical, mental and emotional preparedness.... A bush fire can be a terrifying situation. Strong gusty winds, intense heat and flames will make you tired quickly. Thick heavy smoke will sting your eyes and choke your lungs. It will be difficult to see and breathe. The roaring sound of the fire approaching could be frightening. Embers will rain down, causing spots fires all around you. Power and water may be cut off. You may be isolated, and it will be dark, noisy and extremely demanding both mentally and physically. If you have any doubts about your ability to cope, you should plan to leave early, well before a fire reaches your area and well before you are under threat. People who are at higher risk, such as children, elderly, disabled or with medical problems, should always leave early. Leaving early is always your safest option. To help your family prepare for a bush fire, you need to make a bush fire survival plan. This will help you make important decisions like when to leave, what to take, and what to do with animals. You can assess your risk using the bush fire household assessment tool. Know your risk.

01.01.2022 SMOKE SMOKE SMOKE Again we are inundated by smoke being pushed into our area overnight. We will continue to have smoke due to all the fire's to the east, north and south of us. Each time we have a wind change the smoke will be blown in or away. This will go on for quite some time.
