25.01.2022 Developments in Artificial Intelligence will be far reaching and disruptive across a range of fields previously thought to be outside the range of computerisation. For a "futures" think-tank group, we havent yet written extensively on the upcoming challenges that these changes in computer AI will present. I guarantee that this will change. To understand the future of our global, national and local economy, it is essential that we understand how AI will change everything an...d not all change is painless. - David Levingston https://www.businessinsider.com.au/artificial-intelligence-
24.01.2022 Today is the big day! Thank you to everyone who has liked our page: thanks to you we have reached more likes than any other candidate or group! We are really blown away with the feedback, questions, encouragement, and support we have received. Thanks to you, we have been able to put together a plethora of policy that will improve the Armidale and Guyra region. We are asking one last favour! Please share this with your friends and encourage them to vote for the New England Futures Group tomorrow! Vote down our ticket 1-4, and make sure you choose at least two other candidates to make your vote count. Based off our research and conversations, we would recommend Peter Bailey Vote 1, and Aileen MacDonald. Thank you again; together we can move our region forward for the benefit of all.
24.01.2022 VOTE: Who Would You Have Voted In As Mayor? http://www.nefg.com.au//10/05/poll-secret-ballot-voted-ma/
24.01.2022 Dont forget to vote for New England Futures Group on September 9th! Remember you need to number candidates at least 1 - 6 if you are voting below the line. Check out our how to vote card to see how!
22.01.2022 The numbers are astronomical. The worldwide debt is beyond comprehension. The great recovery post-2008 never happened. The only thing looking good at the moment is the stock market as company buybacks are at record highs due to low-interest rates and now countries are using the stock market to devalue their currencies. The culprits who sunk the world economy in 2008 are still at large, and the financial reforms needed to ensure that the same problem wont happen all over a...gain never came. Meanwhile, central banks claim to know what theyre doing as we drift ever more into the dark unknown. Unfunded liabilities are moving more and more onto state and national balance sheets. There are no manuals, theories or mathematical accounting brilliance that can save us from the sheer reality that when the next collapse happens, our governments are all out of ammunition to fight it and the only way forward will be through it. http://www.nefg.com.au/2017/11/02/economic-crash-already/
21.01.2022 Armidale mall used to be open to traffic. The below picture (colourised, probably from pre 60s) shows two lanes with parking. The new plans, available at council, are for single lane, plenty of parking, and seating room for cafes. What do you think?
21.01.2022 We have not posted much recently, and we apologize for that. Post election all members have been busy catching up on work in their various jobs/businesses. David continues to maintain http://www.nefg.com.au, so make sure you head over and check out the latest posts. However, we are very excited that David Levingston is almost finished his tell all feature book, "What Happened". For the first time, David James Levingston reveals what he was thinking and feeling during one of t...he most controversial and unpredictable Armidale Regional Council elections in history. Now free from the constraints of running, David takes you inside the intense personal experience of being the youngest person to nominate himself in an election marked by rage, sexism, exhilarating highs and infuriating lows, stranger-than-fiction twists, Russian interference, and an opponent who broke all the rules. This is his most personal memoir yet. In these pages, he describes what it was like to run against old council members, the mistakes he didnt make, how he has coped with a shocking and devastating loss, and how he found the strength to pick himself back up afterward. With humor and candor, he tells readers what it took to get back on his feetthe rituals, relationships, and reading that got him through, and what the experience has taught him about life. He speaks about the challenges of being a strong independent young man in the public eye, the criticism over his voice, age, and appearance, and the double standard confronting young men in politics. He lays out how the 2017 election was marked by an unprecedented assault on our democracy by a foreign adversary. By analyzing the "evidence" and connecting the dots, David shows just how dangerous the forces are that shaped the outcome, and why Armidilians and Guyrarians need to understand them to protect our values and our democracy in the future. The election of 2017 was unprecedented and historic. What Happened is the story of that campaign and its aftermathboth a deeply intimate account and a cautionary tale for the nation.
20.01.2022 The zero interest-rate policy broke the social contract for generations of hardworking Americans who saved for retirement, only to find their savings are not nearly enough. And the interest the Federal Reserve pays on the excess reserves of lending institutions broke the money multiplier and handcuffed lending to small and midsized enterprises, where the majority of job creation and upward mobility in wages occurs. Government policies and regulations in the postcrisis era have aided the hollowing-out of middle America far more than anything the private sector has done. These changes even expanded the wealth gap by making asset owners richer at the expense of renters. Michael Burry https://nefg.com.au///we-need-a-fundamental-miracle-pt-ii/
19.01.2022 Super blessed to have such a supporting wife! Weve both had a lot of fun this election and are looking forward to the other side!
19.01.2022 The chance of gain is by every man more or less overvalued, and the chance of loss is by most men undervalued. Adam Smith, Wealth of Nations. http://www.nefg.com.au/2017/12/15/crypto-currency-explained/
18.01.2022 In a recent poll we were running, we missed Simon Murray from the list of Mayoral candidates due to a misunderstanding. We apologise for this mistake. We have reset the poll to include Simon Murray in the available choices. Please take to the time to once again cast your vote for who you, given the choice, would vote for as the next Mayor or Armidale Regional Council.
15.01.2022 The machines are on their way. Is it time we start preparing for the jobocalpyse? http://www.nefg.com.au/2017/10/06/our-inhuman-future/
15.01.2022 Election results so far! NEFG is running 8th overall. David Levingstons 5th below the line. ... So far Labour and Margarets group look like theyll have quotas along with Simon Murray and John Galletly. Followed by the Greens and Libby Martin. Ian Tiley has already achieved a quota.
14.01.2022 Any taxation system that requires individuals to spend enormous amounts of time, money and stress just to figure out how much they should pay the government is a flawed and broken system. - David Levingston
13.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who supported and voted for us. We really appreciate your support and input on helping us put together a campaign, create policy that will move our region forward, and give us a better understanding on the needs of the people and our region. If you want to keep track of the results as they unfold, you can do so with the following link.
13.01.2022 Great job Cr Peter Bailey defending Armidale as an ideal location for the AVPMA as part of the Nationals decentralisation program. Both in terms of meeting the AVPMAs recruitment needs, placing the agency in closer proximity to major clients, and working towards the future of rural and urban Australias needs, Armidale is a standout location. Armidale is a clear choice becuase of the surrounding industries, stand out educational institutions and excellent life style opportu...nities. Lets make a stand against Joel Fitzgibbon, and defend this golden opportunity for both the AVPMA and Armidale. Decentralisation of government institutions to combat urban sprawl and empower regional communities is a fantastic policy and one which has been successfully rolled out across Australia. 12.01.2022 Thanks to everyone for the support! The race was a lot of fun. This time we Didnt get up! Candidates with 230 less primary votes did but thats what happens when you dont make deals for preferences.
12.01.2022 Our Q&A Video! Recently we asked if you had any questions! We have taken them and put them into a video for you. It goes for a bit long, but we will cut down the questions and re-upload them for you! The questions asked in order were as follows: Sam Doyle Whats your plan to capitalise on the NBN infrastructure so Armidale can take advantage of what I call an untapped resource?...Continue reading
11.01.2022 Historian Kevin Gutzman summed things up beautifully in a Facebook post that was published at the Tenth Amendment Center. "The Senate committee members grilling of Zuckerberg put on full display what seems intuitive: that there is no way a legislative body can have adequate knowledge to manage every element of a society of 325,000,000 people (let alone the entire world).

07.01.2022 Local election is over and its time to get the couch philosopher on. Bit longer than my usual rant. Hopefully someone out there will appreciate these rather crude thoughts. http://www.nefg.com.au//inadequate-conceptions-of-the-ina/
07.01.2022 After you have finished voting for the New England Futures Group, head over to The French Coq for a bite to eat and a coffee!!! Mention that you voted for us and get your second coffee full price!!!

05.01.2022 Interest only mortgages now surpass $640 billion or roughly 50% of the Australian economy and a recent survey revealed that recent rate rises have already left 71 percent of interest-only borrowers under moderate to high levels of financial stress. With Sydney housing prices starting to decline, the question arises if prices can ease without a complete housing price collapse. http://www.nefg.com.au//housing-prices-cities-falling-her/

02.01.2022 Just angered ANTY by pointing out that theyre "pro-guyra" recommended candidates list contains ex councillors... who fought for the amalgamation. If youre in Guyra, please disregard this list. Some of these people who you have been encouraged to vote for simply do not care for Guyra having its own council and are using ANTY to boost their votes. ... I may have angered many from Guyra and ANTY today but I believe that they have been severely mislead and speaking as someone from a small town, I actually do care. - David Levingston
02.01.2022 Based purely on our poll linked below, in order as they appear on the ballot paper, we believe the next councillors will be: David Levingston - Ind Margaret OConnor - Ind Dorothy Robinson - Greens... Deborah OBrien - Labour Bradley Widders - Ind Diane Gray - Ind Aileen MacDonald - Ind Kevin Dupe - Ind Trev Smith - Ind Libby Martin - Ind Ian Tiley - Ind Do you agree with this prediction? In recent times we have seen just inaccurate polls can be. Have your say in the comments below! http://www.nefg.com.au//who-are-you-planning-on-voting-for/
