25.01.2022 The next 6 weeks are going to be extremely hard. Around 300 people in the first lockdown committed suicide in the first week in Victoria alone. Mental health issues related to lock down and the pandemic are especially hard for people with depression. The wonderful charity MIND has a 24-hour helpline: 1300 554 660 Please could any two of my Facebook friends just copy and repost to share the helpline far and wide. Just two. Any two. Say done. Thank you.

18.01.2022 UPDATED HEALTH ADVICE To help prevent any further spread of COVID-19, Queenslanders must minimise the number of people they come into contact with. O...nly leave your home if it’s absolutely necessary. You can do so with members of your household or with one other person who is not a member of your household. Permitted reasons to leave your home are listed below. For a residence or household, the number of people allowed to gather in that house is limited to the usual members of that household, plus two other visitors who are family or close friends. We strongly urge people aged over 70, anybody over 65 with a chronic disease, and Indigenous people over 50 to stay at home for their own protection. You are now only allowed to leave your home if absolutely necessary for the following permitted reasons. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in a fine up to $1,330 for individuals and $6,670 for corporations. > To obtain essential goods and services > Receive medical treatment or health care services > Exercise > Do work or volunteering that is essential and cannot be done from home (this is any type of work that is not restricted under the latest ‘non-essential business activity and undertaking closure’ direction) > Visit another person’s home, as long as there are no more than 2 visitors who do not usually live there > Visit a terminally ill relative or attend a funeral > Assist, care for or support immediate family members > Attend a Court or tribunal or comply with a Court or tribunal order > Attend a childcare facility, school, university, or other educational institution to receive instruction that is not possible to receive at home > Assist with an investigation by police or other law enforcement authority > All shared custody arrangements of children under 18 years of age, whether informal or court-ordered, can continue as normal. You are allowed to leave home to take children from one parent’s home to the other parent’s home > To avoid illness, injury or the risk of harm > To comply with directions of a government agency.
14.01.2022 To all of our wonderful and loyal supporters, this is honestly one of the hardest post we have ever had to write. Sadly, and not for lack of trying our hearts o...ut, we are facing closure. We have tried everything imaginable to get some urgent funding and we have come up empty again and again. Even the news report during prime time got us only a handful of donations. Yesterday I listen to Simone crying her eyes out for an hour, ready to throw in the towel because everything has become so hard. We just can not sustain the charity any more and our founder Simone has put her entire life saving into the sanctuary to help save the lives of at risk women and children in domestic violence situations. Every single week on average 1 women is killed by her current or former partner in domestic violence, with 1 in 3 women experience some form of violence in an intimate relationship and I truly believe with all of my heart that the figure would be higher if it wasn’t for shelters and sanctuaries just like ours. If only I could show you what I have seen of the condition some of our ladies arrive in and to see them gain their lives back, their freedom and to become safe and independent is the most rewarding and liberating experience life could offer. I cant even imagine what would have become of them without us. We save so many women from a life of abuse and even if we save one a year from losing her life completely then all of the work is worth all of the struggle we go through to provide a safe environment - a sanctuary for their children and also their pets. But we are struggling, we are run by hard working volunteers and we are all suffering compassion fatigue and finally we have absolutely run out of options. We have one lovely lady working on a sponsorship program and grant writing but we need your urgent help to get us out of the red financially. All we need is 10,000 AMAZING people to donate just $5 each. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but trust me when I say your $5 will make all the difference to the lives of women needing a safe haven. $5 is less than a cup of coffee, its less than a bottle of water at the movies this weekend and less than 2 x ATM transactions at a non-bank ATM machine. So many of us spend $5 without batting a eye-lid so please please please consider just a small $5 donation.. I also ask one more thing, please share this with your friends but don’t just hit share, please write on your post about the amazing work we do and please help us reach our goal of $50,000 to keep our sanctuary open and saving lives. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. We can not do any of this without you and without your support we just cant carry on saving the lives of these beautiful women who find themselves in our care. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind support and for helping us carry on the amazing work we do. We honestly cant do this without you. Please share this post like crazy and to donate click on the link: https://retreat-for-kids-inc.giveeasy.org/help-us-save-our- or SMS the keyword SAVE to 0437 371 371 to donate $5 or more fast and easy Thank you from the bottom of our hearts xx
