18.01.2022 The NNLAA will finally finish the 2019/20 season(check recent event update) but It's come at a cost and we are unable to hold the annual dinner and trophy night. This is disappointing but we will look to distribute awards during the weigh in for the first competition in the 2020/21 season. The NNLAA held a general meeting last night where this was discussed as well as finalizing the new competition roster which will be outlined later in June. The NNLAA would like to thank members for their patience during this difficult time. Also the club and members send sympathies to past and present NNLAA committee members Tim Lowe and Paul Fulton on the recent passing of loved ones.

18.01.2022 From NNLAA President Laurie Harrison. "I have thought about fishing over the last few days with all this rain and I believe that it will be totally unsafe so sorry this Saturday is cancelled.Along with that due to the not completion of all our comps for the season I have decided that we can’t do the consistency trophies so they will not be awarded for this season but it will be next year sorry but that’s the way it works.Let’s all get ready for the upcoming season and don’t f...orget the upcoming AGM on the 7th July at 1900hrs at the men’s shed hope to see you all there.Regards Laurie. We tried our best to finish it but sometimes things are out of our control. The new competition roster will be outlined soon and 2019/20 season awards will be given out at the first weigh in of the 2020/21 season. On behalf of the committee well done and thanks to all members and volunteers for their time ,efforts and patience during last season.

16.01.2022 Grab the kids and come up tomorrow to catch a fish,no freshwater angling license needed just for this day.Lookout for the sign on the side of the road -10 Acre Lane Bushy Park..11 am to 2 pm bring some fishing gear(some provided) something to eat(BBQ/Refreshments available) and appropriate clothing. The Junior pond is exactly that strictly only for the kids to fish in and it's also artificial lure use only,no bait fishing.2 fish are allowed to be kept minimum size 300 mm with one allowed to be kept over 500 mm.

09.01.2022 Are you up for a challenge?.The Derwent River Inter Club Challenge to be specific. It's that time of year again with the NNLAA hosting the STLAA invitational event this weekend. All STLAA angling clubs and guests Launceston Angling club will compete and the club with the 5 heaviest trout total will be crowned the shield winners. The NNLAA is proud to run this competition and the committee puts a lot of time and work into organizing it as well as sourcing quality prizes. The lucky... winning 5 members from a club will receive a trophy made and donated by Donna Barratt from Dannikas Cart. There are also Heaviest trout trophies for both Seniors and Juniors made for us by T&M Trophies and the overall top 5 heaviest trout caught by any member will also receive prizes. The IFS has donated a rod and reel package which will be awarded to the member who catches the longest trout and average weight and mystery weight awards will also be won.On top of this the NNLAA will also run it's own in house roster competition and it's annual challenge raffle which again is filled with quality prizes.A $500 guided fishing trip with experienced angler Michael Haley will definitely be awesome to win for anyone who loves fishing.A $300 rod and reel package donated by Tim Lowe from Gilbert's Automotive is another quality prize sure to please anyone who wins it.The NNLAA and our major Sponsor William's Outdoors have also provided us with some quality fishing gear including rods/reels,tackle bags, boxes and lots of other fishing gear.Justin Causby from Tassie Devil Lures has also made us another special challenge lure and also provided us with some prizes as has Spot On The Fishing Connection,Rod and Range Sports,BCF,Zip Baits Tasmania,Riseley Trout Flies,Bob Jane Tmarts and more.Without the support of these valued sponsors there would be no competition, club or STLAA and the NNLAA is appreciative and thankful to have these quality people behind us.Fishing boundaries are from the Lawitta Pump Station to the Tasman Bridge.Fishing starts at 6 pm on Friday and intending competitors need to be a member of an STLAA club to compete.Specific NNLAA memberships can be bought at Williams Outdoors in High Street and remember intending competition anglers need to be a club member before the start.A weigh in and BBQ with food provided by RE Clark and Son will be held on Sunday from 1 pm- 2 pm and competitors need to pay their entry fees before weighing in any trout.Entry fees are Adults $10 and Juniors $5 and raffle tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5.The river is running a little rich with fresh cold run off but I'm sure some quality trout will be caught,.Anyway get your memberships and gear sorted it's nearly go time.Good luck and good fishing see you all at the weigh in on Sunday.
