24.01.2022 Today was AWESOME! The volunteers from Sailability NSW were wonderful and so were the volunteers from our affiliated club, Deaf Sailing NSW. We want to thank our interpreters Linda and Jessica for their amazing work! And a special thank you to Middle Harbour Yacht Club for working with us to help make this event a fun learning experience for our deaf sailors! ... 22.01.2022 Today we met with over 80+ deaf and hard of hearing youth at Deaf camp based in North Coast. Many of these youth came from as far as Albury, all the way up by Dubbo and some from up the North Coast. We wish to thank the following persons for their involvement: - Ray Fearn, the coolest Teacher of the Deaf around. He organised this camp and have done so for over 20+ years. Ray invited us to come share some sporting interests with these kids. We all had a ball! - Donovan and Mic...hael from NSW Deaf Soccer Football Club - Larry from Deaf Netball Australia / Deaf Netball N.S.W with support from Kimberly, volunteer and Board Member of NSW Deaf Sports - Gordon from Deaf Touch Football NSW, with support from Thomas at Central Coast Deaf Group - plus Lauren, our Sports Development Officer for delivering the information sessions to the young people and reigning in the aforementioned sport clubs who offered to share their sporting passions at camp. We look forward to attending more deaf camps in the future! The kids were awesome! Deaf Sports Australia

20.01.2022 NSW Deaf Sports wishes to share our condolences on the passing of Robert Bowler. He played golf and soccer for Australia at various championships (especially golf !) He also played cricket at the Australian Deaf Games. I am sorry I don't have all the details on his past achievements, but he leaves behind a rich sporting history with the Deaf community. Our condolences to Assunta and family.... Below are the photos from his last World Deaf Golf Championships held at Dublin, Ireland 2018. (he is wearing the white shirt)

18.01.2022 Last Wednesday, we went to a high school to teach deaf and hard of hearing students about sports and pathways. NSW Deaf Soccer Football Club and Deaf Touch Football NSW took the opportunity to show the students how to play Football and Touch Football. The students are inspired and very keen to join pathways available to them! ... Photos permitted for distribution.

18.01.2022 We loved teaching these students! Coach Peta Stevens from Deaf Touch Football NSW and our Sports Development Officer Lauren Townsend taught these students the skills you would need in Touch Football. This could not have been made possible without Sporting Schools!

16.01.2022 #didyouknow Last September, the Tennis coaches attended our Deaf Sports Awareness workshop at the City Community Tennis ( Jensen's Tennis ). This means that these people are now aware of our deaf and hard of hearing needs in sports. They even learnt some basic Auslan signs using tennis terms, with the help of our volunteer Josh Sealy! There is now a Talent ID Session for juniors, coming up at the end of November (next month) - if you are 18 years of age or under and meet ...the minimum standard of green ball, then you are strongly encouraged to attend this awesome opportunity! Auslan interpreters will be booked upon request. 15.01.2022 We are looking for a STATE TEAM MANAGER to manage our New South Wales Deaf Sports team! The STATE TEAM MANAGER will be responsible for taking care of our NSW Deaf Sports team heading to the 2022 Australian Deaf Games. The STATE TEAM MANAGER will also work with our Sport Development Officer. The role is not a paid role but expenses including the Games registration will be covered by us. 12.01.2022 Hi, I'm Lauren from NSW Deaf Sports Australia. I'd like to remind all the clubs, teams, groups or similar, to please pay your membership fee ASAP. The membership fee will cover PLI, your membership with Sport NSW and continuing the promoting of your club on our website. [EDIT TO ADD: your club is also on our NEW promotional resources ready to be distributed to local businesses; these are very expensive and we are covering the majority of the costs, but doing so will definitel...y help promote your sport in the long run.] We considered offering free membership but decided to discount it to $10 instead because of the COVID-19 impact and we know not much has happened during that period. But if you pay the $10 membership fee, you are showing that you want to continue this membership under NSW Deaf Sports. Now they're going to deliver a Junior Tennis Development Session for the deaf and hard of hearing tennis players! You do not want to miss this! Come along! 04.01.2022 Vale Jeff Moir NSW Deaf Sports wishes to share their condolences on the passing of Jeff Moir aged 94. Jeff Moir played Tennis at Central Deaf Tennis Club and volunteered as a Board member at NSW Deaf Football. He was also a Life Member at both Deaf Soccer Australia and NSW Deaf Football.... He has played darts, and he also represented NSW at the Australian Deaf Games in the past. Our condolences to the Moir Family.
