20.01.2022 Just a few hours until you can secure your spot in our very first Continuing Education course for yoga teachers!! Yoga teachers often negate the importance of knowing how to thoroughly teach yoga asana with statements like, 'it's not about the pose'. Although this statement holds true in many regards as yoga encompasses SO much more than just the physical, it would be irresponsible to not acknowledge that people are coming for poses and movement. If they weren't coming for th...ose things, they would just be doing a meditation or breath work class with no focus on movement whatsoever. Therefore, you as a teacher need to be incredibly responsible and highly knowledgeable with how you offer this physical practice. The knowledge surrounding yoga asana is imperative to your skillset as a yoga teacher, as it enables you to help MORE people not only start yoga, but also sustain a consistent, intuitive, health-giving practice. Early Bird special is on until December 31st! Check out the link for all the deets! www.nsyfc.com.au/teaching

20.01.2022 This 'Strength Foundations' practice is all about the maximizing your feet's strength, mobility and overall capacity to not only hold you up, but lift you higher! The feet take us from point a to b all the time and we rarely ever give them the true attention they deserve. The focus of this class is centered around peaking to a modified Toe Stand pose. The benefits of this pose are centered around the joints of the lower body, specifially the toes, ankles, knees and depening on the variation, the hips as well. With the focus on finding access into the Toe Stand pose, we inherently address strength of the legs. Get ready for a very comprehensive class for your feet and legs!

17.01.2022 How you approach your yoga practice can either disconnect or unite you to your own personal intentions. Here is ‘Kick-Ass Tip # 3 of 3’ for a GREAT online yoga practice. PRACTICE IN ALIGNMENT WITH YOUR INTENTIONS!... What drives your practice? Example; If your main intention for practicing yoga is to become flexible at any and all costs, your practice will involve a lot of straining, pushing and most likely ignoring messages from your body. If your main intention for practicing yoga is to reconnect to yourself, your journey towards increasing your flexibility will involve exploring your boundary lines while remaining connected to your intuition. What are your intentions for practicing yoga? Have you ever found yourself practicing in a way that DOESN’T align with your intentions? What adjustments can you make to align with your intentions?

The Wood Element in Spring is expression of life at its strongest! It represents expansion, renewal, new beginnings, new births; like seeds underground that are beginning to sprout and grow. The Wood Element is associated with the Liver and Gallbladder Meridians and their nature is to mo...ve energy upward and outward freely. Feel refreshed and rejuvenated as you detox and shift stagnant energy in preparation of the warmer months ahead A Wood Element practice is one to support the Liver in its optimal functioning by incorporating twists as a cleansing technique, waking up the hips, opening the side seams of the body (gallbladder meridian) and mobilizing the joints to create a free flow of Qi. 08.01.2022 Attention Yoga Teachers Most teachers would agree with the notion that 'yoga is for everyone'! However, that statement isn't being fully realized due to the lack of knowledge we have when it comes to HOW we can make this yoga for everyone. Despite the growing awareness of just how beneficial a yoga practice can be, we are still only seeing approximately 10% of people practicing yoga. That means 90% of people are NOT! This is an indication of many things, however one particul...arly important matter is the fact that yoga is often not marketed or taught in a way that is inclusive, inviting or accessible to the average person. NSYFC will be offering a 50-hour continuing education course for yoga teachers commencing February 2021. The concepts we will explore in this course are designed to elevate your offerings so that you can begin to discover HOW to help more people through the efficacy of your teaching. This ‘unDOING Yoga Asana’ course is available both in person and online and our first early bird offer will be available December 7th. We will be dissecting yoga asana in 5 key areas to give you the tools to confidently assist a large variety of students and offer an accessible practice that is inclusive and empowering. That is really the overall purpose of this course; learning how you can help MORE people access the therapeutic benefits of a transformative yoga practice. Check out all of the details on our website, www.nsyfc.com.au/teaching We will be sharing so much more information with over the next few weeks, about the unique value and intentions that this course has to offer for any and all yoga teachers

08.01.2022 TEACHER PROFILE: Baillie I provide students with the tools to be fully present to the benefits of their practice by creating a safe and nurturing environment. I do this with a focus on breath and awareness of sensations. - Baillie When she’s not studying kinesiology and sipping on cacao, you’ll find Baillie teaching Vinyasa on Monday’s at 5:30pm and MinYin on Sundays at 4pm. She will be leading a special feature class on October 16th; Yin by Candlelight. Her soft voice a...nd welcoming nature makes you feel right at home and we are so grateful to have her on the NSYFC team. Learn more about Baillie (and our other teachers) by visiting www.nsyfc.com.au/contact.

05.01.2022 We often glorify the transition of hopping to the top of our mat during transitions within our yoga practice. It's gotten to the point that we ignore the tension in the backs of the legs and bypass opportunities to create space and opening by favouring the option to hop/jump from downward dog to the top of the mat. For MOST people, the functional benefits of releasing hamstrings and lower back goes far beyond that of hopping forward...unless of course you are a hand balancing circus performer. So, if you're looking to get a bit more opening thorough your back body AND build up trunk muscles in the process, try this optional transition and let me know how it goes!

05.01.2022 Catch Becky this morning at 9:30am for Vinyasa! She brings awareness to various subtleties of your practice that make a world of difference! We still have some room left for you in her class, so come on in and snag yourself a spot

05.01.2022 We don't often give ourselves the nourishing gift of 'me' time. A Zenthai Shiatsu session with Christine is really a treat and a perfect self-care gift to give this year. This is a truly enjoyable healing modality and one that you can just really give into as you release effort and invite ease into the body. Highly recommend!!!

05.01.2022 Upcoming FEATURE Class is on AUGUST 14th! Out With The Old; Hatha Winter Warmer Members $5/Non-Members $15... During the chillier winter months, we can feel stagnation and heaviness in the absence of Spring’s blooming energy. With this stagnation, we'll often experience less detoxification and sometimes build up an internal residue that can make us feel heavy and stuck. Helping you to release and purify during this time of the year, this 90 minute class will focus on giving you an added blast of sweaty goodness to improve cardiovascular function, detoxify through the skin, soften tense muscles and really truly clean you from the inside out! This heated class is based around stillness in postures with emphasis on breath, form, technique and unwavering focused concentration. Your whole body will be left feeling stretched, flexed, activated and squeezed as we move through a thorough variety of postures, where each pose is practiced twice, giving you the opportunity to build upon your efforts. This is an all-levels class appropriate for anyone wanting to cleanse from the inside out and build up their concentration through finding stillness in dynamic postures. Join us for a social community gathering afterwards. Book in www.nsyfc.com.au/events

04.01.2022 We have become obsessed with the ‘look’ of a yoga pose rather than the feeling. This kind of approach can be damaging due to the way it ignores the very obvious fact that ALL bodies are different. The next time you step onto your mat, truly ask yourself, ‘is my practice MINE, or just a carbon copy of what I think it should look like?’

04.01.2022 Teacher Appreciation: Christine McDaniel NSYFC is so grateful to have Christine share her knowledge and passions with us! Catch her at any of the following classes...... Wednesday 12pm Move and Restore Wednesday 5:30pm Yin Sunday 7:30am Vinyasa

02.01.2022 When entering your practice, take into account your current state. Consider the time and events in your life that have brought you to where you are now. Now take NOTE; it doesn’t take 1 hour of yoga to unravel 20+ years of life’s happenings! Here is ‘Kick-Ass Tip # 2 of 3’ for a GREAT online yoga practice. BE PATIENT!... The changes that we experience from our yoga practice are truly transformative. However, remember to be patient with your process. Don’t rush through anything AND know that the evolution of your yoga practice takes time, especially if you came into it with some previous injuries/physical limitations or a bit of a monkey in your mind
