25.01.2022 Update : Superannuation and working Hours updates due to Covid-19 . Superannuation - Temporary skilled and student visa holders able to access superannuation Acting Minister Tudge has today announced that temporary visa holders will be able to access up to $10,000 of their superannuation in this financial year to assist in supporting themselves through the coronavirus crisis.... 1. International students Students who have been here longer than 12 months who find themselves in financial hardship will be able to access their Australian superannuation. 2. Temporary Skilled visa holders These visa holders will also be able to access up to $10,000 of their superannuation this financial year. Working Hours update : Key facts from his media release this morning : 1. International students working in superamarkets will have their working hours return to the maximum 40 hours a fortnight on 1 May as more Australians are being recruited into these roles 2.International students working in aged care and as nurses continue to have their hours extended to support these critical sectors 3.The Government will also be flexible in cases where Coronavirus has prevented international students meeting their visa conditions (such as not being able attend classes)

12.01.2022 Skilled Migration Visas Condition 8504 must enter before a specified date. & Covid-19 The Department of Home Affairs have recently provided information in relation to offshore Skilled visa holders who are subject to visa condition 8504 must enter before a specified date. For the purpose of this information, offshore Skilled visa holders are those who are offshore and hold one of the following Skilled visas:... Skilled Independent (subclass 189) Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) Skilled Regional (subclass 489) Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) The 8504 first entry date condition requires a visa holder to enter Australia before a date specified by the Minister, this date is provided in each Grant Notification letter. The intent of the first entry date condition is to ensure that new migrants enter Australia within a reasonable period after being granted their visa. Breaching an entry-related visa condition does not in itself cause the visa to cease to be in effect rather, renders the visa liable for cancellation. The Department strongly advises visa holders to comply with the first-entry condition however, given the pandemic status of Covid-19, the Minister will not seek to cancel a Skilled visa where the only reason for doing so would be breach of this condition. 09.01.2022 Closure of Victorias skilled nominated visa (subclass 190 and 491) for 2019-20 Victoria's skilled visa nomination program is now closed as we have filled the places provided to us by the Commonwealth Department of Home Affairs for the 2019-20 program year. This includes both the Skilled Nominated (Permanent) visa (subclass 190) and the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).... Applications received prior to 28 May 2020 will continue to be assessed and you will be advised of the outcome in due course. New applications will be accepted in 2020-21. Victoria is facing economic and health challenges posed by coronavirus (COVID-19).
