13.02.2022 These yellow roses are remarkable as they live along the side of a fence that is a major highway for possums. For 5 years, nothing bloomed as they were aggressively pruned and eaten by our neighbourhood wild life. There were times when I thought it was dead because all its branches were blunted. Yet, life found a way to reach towards the sky, pivoted to shorter and dense branches away from the fence and even in between the gaps of fence. The explosion of flowers this spring is a lovely symbol of resilience and survival.

17.01.2022 This is an important article about attempting novelty and developing a new skill even as we grow older. The 'exhilaration' described characterises what we understand about wellbeing. Simply by pushing ourselves out of comfort zone, learning anything new can give us a great boost in our mood and our sense of achievement.

15.01.2022 One of the most important factors in depression is sleep impairment. One tip I have for managing mood is to keep your wake-up time in the morning consistent, even across weekends. This fantastic academic article just showed that regulating wake-up time is crucial in mood maintenance.

13.01.2022 Today is International Women's Day. This story below is representative of many women in our community who are brave, resilient, and giving. I have the privilege of knowing many such women through my work in mental health. They appear most often in my client case load and I have heard many incredible journeys and acts of courage and wisdom. It is a privilege to be invited to support them along the way for part of that journey. We have many miles to go but women like Maryam show us how it is possible to prevail against the odds. Happy International Women's Day!

07.01.2022 About 6mths ago, I was invited to be part of this lovely documentary as the clinical psychologist. We finally have the air date for 'Old People's Homes for 4-year-olds', Season 2 (6 April at 8.30pm on ABC). If you have ever wondered why I chose child psychology as the area of focus and why I think children are so important to our community, here's one example. https://iview.abc.net.au///series/2/video/MP2115H064C00GN1

06.01.2022 Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts. - Winston Churchill

05.01.2022 A truly magnificent cast for season 2 - the incredible seniors and their bravery, and the brilliant, creative, and truth telling 4yr olds. Very very proud to be part of this program.
