24.01.2022 This week’s destination of the week isa scenic drive, through the Stirling Range National Park in Western Australia! The national park is located about four and half hours south of Perth. Once in the #nationalpark, the scenic drive will through the national park will be worth the drive to the national park. Although the roads are unsealed and graded for 2WD, we recommend 4WD.... There are many amazing lookouts and short walks along this drive like the White Gum Flat, Red Gum Spring and Bluff Knoll. The ideal time to visit this national park and do the drive is between September and October. 22.01.2022 This week’s destination of the week is Geikie Gorge National Park in Western Australia. Located in the heart of the Kimberleys, this #NationalPark is closed to Darwin than Perth. Even with that, it is a 17 hour drive from Darwin. The famous limestone cliff face of this gorge was formed about 400 million years ago and there are fossils from this era embedded in the limestone cliff face we see today.... Although this is one of the smaller national parks in the Kimberleys, it is a great spot for a day time picnic or a spot of fishing. There are bbqs, water and toilets nearby as well. If you are into your photography, we recommend coming during the dry season as the limestone cliff face is bleached white and is great for photography! 20.01.2022 This week’s destination of the week is Carcoar Dam in central #NewSouthWales! Located about 3.5 hours west of Sydney, beyond the Blue Mountains, Carcoar dam is a free campsite! It can be a pitstop on your trip or you can stop here over night. The campsite is on the foreshore of the river of the dam and there are about 100 camping sites. Although there aren’t any best spots at the camp site, it can be quite picturesque during Autumn when the leaves turn maroon colour!... Access to the camp ground is easy, with the turnoff well signed from the Mid Western Highway. The road to the camp site is sealed and 2WDs and caravans can access it. The facilities at the campsite includes flushing toilets and cold showers. Swimming, fishing and kayaking at the dam is prohibited due to the algae, nothing beats a hot tea by the lake side and chatting with other campers. 17.01.2022 This week’s destination of the week is Karijini National Park in Western Australia. Set in the heart of Pilbara Region in Western Australia, this national park is about 16 hours north of Perth. It is a long drive but it is worth every minute of that drive! This #nationalpark is Australia’s second biggest national park and definitely one of the oldest as well! It was formed over 2,500 million years ago and the rocks you see are some of the oldest on the planet.... If you are a nature lover, this national park is home to some of Australia’s native plants and animals and there are #wildflowers for all seasons! After a long hot drive or a long hot hike or even because you feel like it, you can take a dip in one of many crystal clear rock pools and gorges at Karijini national park. The famous ones are the Dales Gorge and Fortescue Falls. 12.01.2022 This week’s destination of the week is a little town called Dalwallinu in Western Australia. This little town located in the wheat belt of Western Australia, is three hours north east of Perth. Its your typical cute little sleepy town with all the little local shops on the one main road. This is a great stop for brekkie or lunch if you are passing through.... But if you come during the wildflower season July and October, you will see a different side to this town! Nature transforms this town into a bouquet of colours and nature/wildflower enthusiasts along with photographers flock to Dalwallinu to see it in all its glory. There is a beautiful drive called the Wildflower Way, that starts at Dalwallinu and passes through Wubin, Buntine Rock, Maya, Latham, Caron Dam, Perenjori, Bowgada Nature Reserve, Morowa, War Rock, Gutha Hall, Canna, Tardun, Wilroy Nature Reserve before reaching Mullewa. It then extends to Geraldton. Every September, Dalwallinu hosts the Wattle Week Festival to celebrate the wildflower season. A street parade, market day and cabaret are some of the festivities.
