25.01.2022 Happy Saturday parkrunners. We hope you are all keeping safe and warm. Keep sending in your runner profiles. We love getting to know our parkrunners better. Name? Corey Simmons Age Group? 20-24... First parkrun? Albert Melbourne parkrun - 17th of December 2011 Number of parkruns? 377 Are you a runner, walker or both? I'm a runner but I have walked loads of parkruns too. Have you done an international parkrun? If so which one? No I haven't but I would like to in the future. I'm thinking one in the UK or maybe Singapore. How far have you traveled to a parkrun on parkrun day? 118km - Highlands parkrun Favorite parkrun apart from Newborough? Albert park for sure. It was so good that for 4 years, we were travelling an hour to and from there each Saturday morning. We made plenty of friends, and some of which we still catch up with when touristing. I only walked Jells park but it seemed like an interesting track and I definitely want to have a crack at going all out on it next time. What are your go to shoes for parkrun? I've had my fair share of Asics in the past but I now own 2 pairs of Nike Zooms. A green pair and a black pair. How many different parkruns have you run? 30 Best thing about parkrun? The community for sure. The parkrun people are the most inclusive, positive, driven and encouraging people I know. What is your next parkrun goal? Beat my Newborough pb of 23:44.

13.01.2022 Morning everyone, Third time is the charm in the hopes that we can proceed. We are looking for some volunteers for tomorrow's event. We need two timekeepers, a barcode scanner, a photographer and a marshal. We also have available positions to fill in the coming weeks. Even though our participation numbers go down in the winter months, we need people to put their hand up to volunteer to make sure the events can still go ahead. ... Nearly all of these roles can be done whilst keeping out of the wet weather, so would be a great time to volunteer if you don't like running/walking in the rain. Please note parkrun will no longer be utilising Stopwatches or Barcode Scanners and these volunteer positions will be required to use their own smartphones and download the Virtual Volunteer app. I look forward to seeing you all again in the morning. -volunteer coordinator Jessica

02.01.2022 Hello Newborough parkrun family. We hope you're as excited as we are - 8 sleeps!!! That's right. Newborough parkrun re-launch is all set for January 16th at 8:00am. ... We'd love to see all those familiar faces return and if you're new to parkrun or have been involved in (not) parkrun over the past year, now is the time to join the family. It's free and fun. Your weekly, timed 5km event where you can run, walk, or volunteer. There's something for everyone and everyone is valued. A few updates to to be aware of:- - A first timers briefing will occur at approximately 7:50am for first timers only to clarify their understanding of our parkrun event. - The pre-run briefing will now occur just prior to the 8:00am start for a maximum of 2 minutes. The important stuff will be covered but will be kept short and sharp to help minimise unnecessary clusters of people. - Remember, social distance as much as is possible. The Location QR code for contact tracing is now available and attached to this post. You can scan in advance should you want to check in prior to arriving at the event, or even afterwards. This will also be signposted in multiple locations around the start area should you bring your phone. We can't wait to see you all again. Get excited people. We're back!!
