19.01.2022 *Information for parents if their child is admitted for suspected or confirmed COVID-19* Some misinformation has been circulating online that if a child is admi...tted to hospital and tested for COVID-19 or confirmed as having the virus that a parent or carer will not be able to stay with them. This information is incorrect. Should your child require admission, one parent or carer will be allowed to stay with them. However, that parent/carer will also be isolated and unable to leave the room until confirmation their child's test is negative, or if it is positive they will need to remain in the room with their child until discharge. Parents or carers will not be able to swap during this type of admission. This was the case for 14-year-old William in the photo will who had appendicitis, but also had a fever. William was tested for COVID-19 at the Children's Hospital in Newcastle, his mum stayed isolated with him until the result came back. Thankfully William’s result was negative and the isolation precautions were lifted.
16.01.2022 Hi everyone. First of all we’d like to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation in these trying times. Unfortunately due to COVID 19 we will have to alter our operating hours. 10.01.2022 We are calling on all eastern Lake Macquarie locals with fever or recent onset respiratory symptoms to contact their GP, private pathology laboratories, or the ...free COVID-19 clinics at Belmont or John Hunter hospitals for screening. This advice follows the identification of three COVID-19 cases in eastern Lake Macquarie region with an unknown source of infection. We are focussing on testing residents from Valentine, Belmont, Mt Hutton, Windale and Croudace Bay. The Belmont Hospital Clinic is a drive-through service where people are screened via phone before presenting. For screening, please call 4923 2211 between 8am-4.00pm, seven days a week. The John Hunter Hospital Clinic is currently operating seven days per week, Monday through Sunday, from 8am-10.30pm. Signage at the hospital’s main entrance will direct people to the nearby screening station. We are also operating clinics at Calvary Mater Newcastle, Maitland, and Manning hospitals. Identifying any additional local cases early and implementing appropriate isolation and quarantining is crucial in preventing onward transmission in the community.

07.01.2022 8:30pm update - Wallsend Diggers was contacted by NSW Heakth earlier this afternoon. They were advised that a person from Sydney who is Covid Confirmed entered ...the premises on Wednesday 29 or Thursday 30th July between the hours of 9pm and 11pm. NSW Health have advised the Club to undergo a Deep Clean of the entire premises as per NSW Health Guidelines. The Deep Clean is already underway. As a result of Wallsend Diggers Covid Safe Plan and record keeping within this plan they were able to immediately identify all those who were on the premises during these times. NSW Health now has all that information and will be contacting all those present within the specified times. NSW Health has advised them that the Covid Safe Plan that they have in place is excellent as they were able to provide information immediately. Please note that the Club has not been breached in any capacity. They have also been advised that they are not the only venue in the area that has been shutdown as a result of this person at this stage. NSW Health have also advised that because we are undergoing a Deep Clean tonight and had previously did a fogging 48 hours prior to this person entering the premises we will be re-opening Monday morning 3rd August 2020 at 9am. As per the guidelines, if you feel unwell then please seek medical advise or get Covid tested.
01.01.2022 COVID-19 cases broken down by postcode across NSW have been made available, up to Sunday, 29 March 2020. In the table I have included all postcodes that fall ei...ther wholly or partially within the Newcastle state electorate. As a result, this table cannot be compared to Local Government Area data. Some of these postcodes, for example 2289, fall across multiple state electorates and/or local government areas. The Newcastle state electorate is also smaller than the Newcastle Local Government Area, so data has been drawn from a slightly different area to what has been previously published. This information has been complied from data in the Sydney Morning Herald provided by NSW Health. Also remember that these are the known cases, showing why we need to keep practicing social distancing and following the new rules #becalmbekind #flattenthecurve
