22.01.2022 Very proud of all the effort and commitment evidenced at the grading day. We are very lucky to be able to be training and testing after the challenges of 2020. ... Thank you to members from Ren Shin Kan and Kowakan for attending. Congratulations to the 7 * new Shodans, and all the kyu grades that tested in challenging 39o heat. The standard of the Shodans was brilliant. Sensei Colin Hackett would have been very proud. See more

21.01.2022 Member origin story Thank you @sugarbob Now feels like the right time to share about my experience with Aikido. From my love of the Dragon Ball & Katamari franchises as a kid, to Japanese studies in both primary & high school, followed by my eventual travels in The Land of The Rising Sun in 2018 Japanese culture has long fascinated me. As a kid, my family & I learned karate & despite my appreciation for many of its elements, I bailed on it just before my yellow belt...Continue reading

10.01.2022 Yin Yoga at the dojo Yin is a style of Yoga typically characterised by passive shapes, held for 3-10 minutes to target deeper tissues of the body and invite the mind into practices of gentle resolve and stillness. The long poses offer time for thought and sensation to filter in and out of the field of perception, giving the nervous system a moment to calibrate and relax. ... You can practice yin on Friday mornings at 10.30 to 11.30am - by donation, max 20 participants.

09.01.2022 At the end of the year 2020 Many days have passed since we started to hear "Don’t touch your face! Wash your hands and wear a mask!"... and we still do in Kyoto.... At the same time, it feels just like yesterday that we were together on the Tatami, throughout the world. 2020 leaves us in less than a month, with memories of fear, sadness, disappointment, frustration, patience, challenge, courage, chance, trust and hope. In Kyoto, we have been able to practice Aikido under certain conditions, but this does not mean that we are safe. The pandemic is still here, and we are going through the toughest winter. We will try to keep our best practice within any conditions, on or off the mat. We are looking forward to training Aikido with everyone in the near future! Aikido Kyoto 2020
