15.01.2022 It is after serious deliberation that the committee can anounce that this years show in Nov is CANCELLED. Next year's show will be 12,13,14th Nov. Our demonstrator for this years event Andrew Edge will now attend our monthly meeting on Nov 14th with our usual distancing rules applying. Shown below is last years winning visitors choice tree. Martin's magnificent Banksia.

15.01.2022 Our July meeting has been given the go ahead with the 2mtr rule applying as the Hall size has the floor area to allow our normal numbers. Please use the hand sanitizers provided at entry point and consume your own byo food. If you are attending please see the information in the Members July Newsletter. Theme will be Deciduous for show table and workshop as it is after all winter, so wiring and any design changes should be at hand for a busy return. Great time to also re-pot and there will be a limited number of bags available.

14.01.2022 A fair few of these 4 foot tall cascade pots arrived a few weeks ago. We decided to pot up our J.squamata cascade into one of these monsters allowing the tree to cascade an additional foot or two. Looking forward to how much growth we achieve in the next year or two!!!

14.01.2022 Mike's epic 6hr wiring job on one of our members trees.

13.01.2022 Our visiting demonstrator for Sat Nov 14th is Andrew Edge from the Central Coast. He will be entertaining us with his extensive knowledge on Ficus. Our display table theme will be anything Deciduous as they all now should be showing spring growth. Last get together also before our trips north to our pottery courses on 28/29th so it would be great to see those going for the final plans.

13.01.2022 More Photos to come.

Our photo session was a success so look out for some postings here soon. Rumour has it that they will be included in a 2021 calendar.

12.01.2022 This to update you all on Mikes Nerifolia Willow Leaf Fig from the work he did at the 2018 show. As you can see if you want to build better branch positioning and movement with a shorter tree you need specialist techniques. Incredible work over 2 years since the photo posted below in comments.

11.01.2022 A few photo's from our photo session more to come over the next few days what does everyone like the black or the blue background I like like the black.

10.01.2022 Something interesting for you to look for. Meeting on again this Sat with Dave doing a talk on the styling principles of evergreens. Listen to your tree and it will tell you.!!

05.01.2022 Hi Bonsai enthusiasts. The August edition of the Newcastle Bonsai Society Newsletter will be coming out soon. The deadline for articles to be considered is this... Saturday 25th July. If you have been working on your bonsai or have some interesting photos, ideas or information you would like to share please forward it on to me at [email protected]. Pictures attached are of a Peach, after this seasons haircut and toenail trim, that I dug out of a school garden some years back. Not sure if the student threw the whole peach into the garden but it certainly grew vigorously.

05.01.2022 A few more photo's from our photo session looks like the Black back drop was the winner by a long way to nil. Will add a couple more tomorrow

03.01.2022 Whilst The Central Coast Bonsai Club had been very confident of proceeding with the Bonsai and Shohin Open competition on 12 & 13 September, recent events in Vi...ctoria and NSW have concerned us. After careful deliberation and in the interest of public safety we have no option but to cancel the Bonsai and Shohin Open event for this year. We would like to express our thanks to the many people who entered either spectacular Bonsai and or Shohin pots which would have undoubtedly ensured a spectacular show and event. We apologise for any inconvenience and trust we can all stay safe and well and look forward to hosting the event in the future. See more

03.01.2022 A few more to come When we done the photo Shute we had a good number of trees to photograph more than I expected if everyone like it we may make this a year event.

01.01.2022 Hugh having a climate change.
