This Sunday the 16th of May, 12:00-2:00PM, at The Creator Incubator - Gavin has 3 driving forces when creating his artworks; Head Hand Heart Vitullo’s affinity with the natural world is ever present as he combines concept & craftsmanship harmoniously. He will also talk about how his illness has impacted on each of these driving forces and how despite this he continues to create. Vitullo's practice is both poetic and economical in nature as he consciously implements the use reclaimed, salvaged and sustainable materials. This is evident through his first public Sculpture 'UNDERCURRENT', which was installed in the Lake Macquarie area where he grew up. - Vitullo is most recognised for his work in the discipline of Sculpture having accumulated numerous awards & accolades over his career thus far; including honours in the Newcastle Emerging Artist Prize and the Sculptures in the Vineyards Sculpture Prize for his contemplative Earthworks, 'BREATHE' and 'MONUMENT TO THE FALLEN'. In 2020 Vitullo was honoured with a major solo exhibition through renowned contemporary Art space, The Lock-Up Gallery. The show titled 'NATURAL CAUSES' further demonstrated his commitment and growing philosophy to mindful traditions, through Earth focused Art and its minimal yet profound impact. - "Through the medium of Art I present ideas and philosophies that resonate globally; specifically, through the act of embracing reclaimed, salvaged and sustainable materials." Sophie invited guests to explore her ‘Tiny Museum’ of Oceanic artefacts and experience traditional Murray Island Eastern Torres Strait culture through a powerful music and dance recital by the Whaleboat family. A huge thank you to Sophie for so generously opening her home to support the Foundation and... providing such a rich educational and sensory experience for members. 14.01.2022 Over the last 2 Fridays the Foundation had the opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to the wonderful participating artists in our first ever Love of Art Online Auction in support of Newcastle Art Gallery. The project was a huge success on many levels raising more than $10,000. This was a wonderful collaboration in a difficult year between the Foundation and our incredibly talented and generous artist community, Newcastle Art Gallery and the The Peninsula City Project supported by e...nthusiastic participation from new and existing Gallery supporters and art lovers. Thank you to Georgina Plenty and Tom Plenty for their generous hospitality hosting the artists over 2 weeks and to Lisa Robinson for the covid-safe catering. 07.01.2022 THANK YOU Our first ever Love of Art Online Art auction closed last night and we are delighted to say it was a spectacular success on every level. 17 works sold for $34,197 in total with 80% selling above the Artist reserve, and the majority well above. Of this 70% goes to the contributing artists which means more than $10,000 was raised to support Newcastle Art Gallery. Thank you to all those who bought or bid on works, the generous contributing artists and the many peop...le who enjoyed viewing the wonderful online Artist interviews created PRO BONO by Karl and Ian of The Peninsula City Project.
