21.01.2022 Here we have a quick look at a Falcon that was logging a code for catalytic converter efficiency. The customers vehicle had been illuminating the engine light for this code, they'd had the codes cleared a couple of times and we were called out to actually fix the issue. A quick check on what code was being logged, and a look over the live data stream on the vehicle showed that indeed the catalytic converter had stopped operating efficiently. ... We fitted a new catalytic converter and re-checked the data to ensure the issue had been rectified. The data doesn't lie. First image before repair. Second image after repair.

21.01.2022 Collapsed wheel bearing, importance of having noises checked when they arise before they get to this point. Bookings are extremely limited leading up to Christmas but we are taking bookings for January!

07.01.2022 It has been a bit quiet here, but there has been a lot going on. Here are some pictures of one of our ongoing projects in the works at the moment. Customer left a 2005 GTO with an LS2 with us to do a few power upgrades, and to tidy up a few areas of the vehicle. Original plan was to do a head and cam upgrade. With the kilometres of the vehicle in mind, our first step was to carry out a compression test. This revealed a couple of cylinders low on compression, with this in mind... we progressed. Removed the engine and continued with the tear down of the engine. Upon disassembly of the engine, we found worn cam bearings, quite a lot of carbon build up on tops of pistons, a result of oil burning within the cylinders. From here the block went to a local engine re-conditioner for a full assessment of the health condition of the engine block. The result. Re-bored cylinders, new pistons, new big end and main bearings, new cam bearings, new heads and valves. This is a pretty good example of how quickly things can escalate when you find worn internal engine components. But for everyone involved this is going to ensure peace of mind. For now, the engine will go back into the vehicle, then run-in followed by a tune. Stay tuned for power results at a later date.
