25.01.2022 Front page of The Herald today. No matter which side of the fence you sit on, a local club which has made Jesmond Park the quality ground it is, has been pushed aside for no legitimate reason.

25.01.2022 GROUNDS UPDATE: On behalf of NCSCA, we like to thank Chris Miner from Lake Macquarie and Rod Maughan Newcastle City Councils on the effort they have put into ground allocations for the upcoming season, as it has been time consuming. The Association from the beginning of the booking process made the decision not to book grounds it would have normally booked in previous seasons. It must be noted that with the exception of Port Stephens grounds, no clubs have ever booked grounds... and this has been carried out by the NCSCA, making them the traditional user. Grounds were not mass booked for 2 reasons, 1 the number of clubs returning and after some advice, the NCSCA did not book ovals such as Feighan and Liles due to efforts those clubs have put in. The NCSCA has also not booked other LMCC turf wickets, along with some synthetics including Valentine Soccer where NCSCA paid out over $2000 for a wicket that will not benefit our Association. The same can be said for Newcastle grounds, where grounds such as Lugar, Lindsay Memorial were not booked. The NCSCA will also have a Carrington team back on Connolly Oval, honouring an understanding that if they returned to A-Grade they would return to their Traditional home ground. The ground has been a part of the NCSCA since 1921, meaning it is the only ground left from the start of our Association. On a plus to this, is the grant the Association has negotiated with NCC for the upgrade to the watering system on Connolly and Pat Jordan. During discussions with NCC, it was decided that Bill Elliott and the 2 turf wickets at Adamstown would be given to council for their use. It was also decided that Islington Oval would be used by NDCA Grade (1st and 2nd) until 1 of NDCA grounds are returned after upgrades, at which stage the ground would be returned to NCSCA. Again a big thanks to Chris and Rod, for all your work, we know how you feel.

24.01.2022 Just an update on the draw and gradings for the season. We are still planning to kick off next Saturday 17th, but as we have been waiting on Council to make sure the ground allocations were fairly shared across all competitions and we have also had some late team entries, we haven't been able to release our final versions just yet. We hope to get this out by the end of this week, if not earlier. We are excited about getting underway and are thankful for the great support and messages we have received from the teams returning this year.

21.01.2022 Wet Weather Please note the NCSCA wet weather number is 0475078953 ... Curators of turf wickets and captains playing on synthetic and concrete wickets are to Text only - Before 10.30am - The Ground - Your Club - Your name This number is not for wet weather information and will not be answered. Information on washouts can be found on MyCricket and Facebook.

20.01.2022 NCSCA would like to take this opportunity before the season starts to address social media use. We have a clear social media policy this season (http://ncsca.nsw.cricket.com.au//ncsca%20social%20media%20) which is based on CricketNSW's policy and would be very similar to all other cricket associations and just being a decent human being frankly. At our committee meeting last night it was put forward that we all need to be better in this department and look after the mental... health and wellbeing of all members and the public in general. Harrassment/abuse/trolling with fake accounts etc has no place in society, and certainly not in public forums. Whilst we acknowledge and apologise for some comments that have been made in the past, it doesn't mean this should continue into the future. Feedback, comments and constructive criticism is always welcome at NCSCA, however in the future, comments reported as offensive will be reported to the committee. This is the same for comments made by members of other cricket associations in this forum, with an mutual understanding in place that those people should be reported to their respective associations.

20.01.2022 All wet weather calls need to be in by 10:50 to the wet weather line. After this time a list of washed out grounds will be posted and all other teams must attend their grounds to hopefully get a game in!

20.01.2022 Round 18 - 20/02 - Washed Out With councils washing grounds out and the amount of grounds being texted in to the wet weather line calling those grounds out, the BOM has declared round 18 off. Thank you for your patience, the BOM has been trying to gets games played over the past few weeks and the weather has beaten us.

19.01.2022 Old Boys Double Hat Tricks Old Boys first entered a team in the NCSCA competition in 2005 (making this season number 16). During this time the club has fielded up to 3 teams per season. Until this season, no bowler had ever recorded a double hat trick:... Round 1, 17 October Jay Sneddon on debut for the Old Boys A-grade team against Rogue Cricket Club had the figures of 0-13 in his 4th over. In the next 8 balls, Jay took 5-0 including a double hat trick. Jay finished with the figures of 6 overs, 1 maiden, 6 wickets for 14 runs. Round 5, 14 November With the Old Boys A-grade team having been bowled out for just 43, Yarnteen had 5 wickets in hand, needing only 14 runs to win. Tim Mason’s 5th over started with 2 dot balls, his next 4 deliveries bowling consecutive batters. Tim was denied the opportunity to claim a triple hat trick when fellow opener, Sam Parkes, bowled the last batter with the second ball of the next over. Tim finished with the figures of 5 overs, 2 maidens, 5 wickets for 11 runs. The Old Boys claimed an unlikely victory by 13 runs.

19.01.2022 The following is advice received from NSW Umpires on the procedure to be followed on bowlers hats and equipment. "The bowlers hats and equipment are not to be given to the umpires. If they are not taken by the players of the bowling side, they can be placed behind the bowling end umpire on the ground and remain in play at all times. If the ball strikes them, no penalty runs are incurred. Alternatively the hat and equipment can be placed outside the boundary. However the rule pertaining to helmets behind the wicketkeeper remain in place. "

18.01.2022 Grounds Update: Please find the attached letter and read through the frustrating and inevitable farce that was the grounds allocations process. It shows we were just strung along with those that wanted to whinge and bully to get their way finally succeeding. Make sure you get in contact with the list at the bottom and let them know that 99 yrs of cricket in Newcastle has changed forever and teams that have grown the game, put many many hours looking after council facilities was all for nothing. Don't listen to the lies being told by proven cheaters or those that have been prepared to back said cheaters. https://drive.google.com//11kymmJb2FQno3wGVwGSCgLxeX/view

07.01.2022 Grand Final Update: With the unprecedented amount of rain received over the past few weeks, grounds are being monitored on a daily basis. All decisions on ground availability will be made by the Board of Management, in conjunction with local councils. ... There will be the need to change several grounds from last weeks allocations, however, this will not happen until Friday at the earliest and changes will be made Saturday if required.

07.01.2022 This Saturday 10th October from 12pm @ Douglas St Oval Dora Creek, there will be a memorial shield match in honor of two NCSCA members who tragically passed away last season playing the game they loved - Simon Marks (Dora Creek) & Rod Tinworth (The Bay Hotel). 03.01.2022 Grand Final Update: To our teams who are playing in the Grand Finals on Saturday. With the weather system dropping a deluge of rain over the past few days and with more to come, grounds set down for tomorrow have been checked today to see if there was any chance to have games played. The grounds are saturated and standing water on the grounds leaves no option for the BOM but to postpone this weekend until next week.... We hope you understand and appreciate the early call on this one. BOM

02.01.2022 Scorebooks: NCSCA has decided to do its part for the environment and not print new scorebooks for every team this year as we generally waste half the book. Teams are to continue using their books from last year and request a new book when they get near the end. Our new teams and existing teams that have lost theirs can request new books straight away and we will arrange to get them to you.

02.01.2022 Decision has been made to call the round off. Best efforts were made to get the games on and holding off as long as possible to call, but this large rain bank has now moved in and will mean too many grounds will be unfit and for those travelling longer distances it is not fair to turn up and walk away.

01.01.2022 Due to the amount of washouts that have occurred this season the BOM has reduced the number of games to 3 for qualification purposes for the Finals. If a club has a player that does not meet these requirements and believes they have a just reason for dispensation, please email the Association Secretary outlining your reasons. No application for dispensation will be accepted after 6.00pm on Monday 8th March 2021

01.01.2022 To all clubs, NCSCA are proposing to add a 30 over grade this season. This grade is designed for the lower grade clubs with aging players. Please discuss with your players and advise us If you are interested by Friday 25/9/2020.... The 30 over competition will start and finish the same times as the traditional 35 over games. The only change will see bowling spells reduced to 6 overs to keep in line with National 20% maximum overs that bowlers can bowl in shorter formats of the game. Umpire fees will remain the same. We hope the introduction of the new 30 over format will entice some of our aging players to remain playing cricket and take away the stress of trying to complete matches by 6pm. At this stage, we do have a few teams who have expressed interest in the 30 over format. As per the other grades, this 30 over format will comprise of 6 teams. NCSCA Committee
