04.01.2022 JAPANESE CONSUL GENERAL VISIT On Thursday last week Newcastle High School was honoured to welcome the Consul-General for Japan, Mr Kiya, to our school. He came to Newcastle High to observe one of our Japanese lessons and to commemorate the school's special relationship with Ube city in Japan. He was most impressed by our student's enthusiasm for the Japanese language and the amazing passion of their teacher Mrs Vandermeer. Quoting from his Tweeter feed at @CGJapanSydney "The Japanese language class of Ms Jodie Vandermeer at Newcastle HS was simply amazing. She teaches Japanese food names and their hiragana/katakana characters not only by using video clips and quizzes but by serving takoyaki to students so that they can enjoy the taste as well!" Well done Mrs Vandermeer and her students for representing our school with great distinction!

03.01.2022 FRIYAY!! Today NHS hosted the Inclusive Boccia Sports Day in conjunction with the NSW School Sport Unit. Students from 6 participating schools learned the finer skills of Boccia and then competed in modified games. Our NHS students represented the school with pride - both on the court as skilled cooperative players and off the court as knowledgeable volunteers helping visitors throughout the day. Thank you to everyone who was involved. We look forward to commencing our training for the 2021 season.
