22.01.2022 *** NDIS & External Service Providers *** Dear Parents and Carers, With new cases of COVID-19 being diagnosed in the local Hunter area, Junior School has decided today to exclude all non Department of Education personnel from school grounds.... Unfortunately this means we will have to postpone allowing therapists on school grounds until further notice. I apologise for any inconvenience this causes but the health and wellbeing of students and staff is of utmost importance during this pandemic. If you have any questions please contact the school. Thank you for your understanding Graham Principal

10.01.2022 Bush Fire Season The Department of Education has conducted an assessment on all NSW government schools to determine the level of risk for bushfire. Newcastle Junior School is in Category 2 in a bushfire prone area.... This is not the highest category but it does require the school to be bush fire ready and have a plan in place. In the event of an emergency Junior School will use Skoolbag, Facebook or SMS to provide parents/carers with information and updates. Please read the one page document attached. For further information please follow the link below to the Departments school safety webpage- https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/school-safety
10.01.2022 Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Term 3. I hope that despite the weather and COVID-19 pandemic that you managed to have an enjoyable holiday. As you may have seen online or on TV, COVID-19 is still present in NSW.... At Junior School our COVID-19 restrictions will remain the same as they were at the end of Term 2. Please be aware that parents and carers are currently not permitted on school grounds. The advice we have received from the Department of Education states: "Non-essential adults are still not permitted on school grounds or at school events - this includes parents and carers except for face-to-face parent/teacher meetings that are essential (e.g. to discuss disciplinary or other welfare matters)." Parents who bring their child to school will continue to use the bus lines for pick up and drop off. We are hoping to allow external therapists such as OT’s, Speech Pathologists, Physio’s etc back into the school subject to all paper work completed and health procedures being in place. Thanks for your continued support. Graham Principal

06.01.2022 Online Disability Consultation Project Newcastle Junior School is seeking parents to participate in a one off online focus group. Across the state parents are being asked to contribute to a consultation project. This is a chance for you to have your say regarding school culture and belonging. We want to hear about your child's positive experiences at school and the things you think your school is doing well to support your child. It may also be that your child has struggled ...at school. It may be that your child and/or your family doesn't feel part of your school community. There may be things that get in the way of your child joining in and learning at school. We want to hear your ideas about how this could be improved. What's working and what's not working for students living with a disability in NSW public schools? We want to gather your insights into inclusive policies and practices in your child's school. The session will take place online on Monday 14th September from 12.30pm till 2pm. If you are interested please let the school know ASAP as places are limited. Thanks
